I had a wonderful experience with the plugin itself. It's easy to use, it's saved me the hassle of having to one by one bake each texture. I don't have to worry about the different settings needed for specific maps either since the plugin handles all of it. The creator has also be extremely helpful when I had questions about baking multiple objects onto one texture map. Although it wasn't it a feature yet, after our conversation they've since added that very feature! Great plugin, would highly recommend making the purchase!

The auto bake addon is truly a masterpiece. It works like a charm, has a really great sorted ui for settings and does a lot of things unlike other bake addons out there. It really is a time and life saver for baking large quantities of texture maps with complex material setups. At first i was hestitant to pay for such addons, however i'm really glad i did :)

QuickRead: A very well structured Add-on. Takes some time to understand the core principle but its very well documented. Will definitely speed up your workflow. Would only recommended if your project is payed and needs loads of baking. Its still a bit too rough around its edges. Feels more like a 6 to 10€ Add-on.

    My critique (Add-On Version 2.0.0):
The reason why i do not give 5 stars is because the blend file easily gets flooded with images that you have to manually remove, which results in a very big blend file since they are packed in the file (gets big fast if you render 8k). I would consider this a bug which would have been a deal breaker for me if i knew.
Adding to this: It happened quiet often that an error/edge case was not handled right and i had to restart blender completely to be able to restart the baking (for example when updating data on an image that is deleted on the system).

    Other suggestions (to the Dev):
On an new untouched blend file the UI shows bright red warnings to begin with which i think is a bad UX decision. I suggest to just deactivate the "Auto Bake" Button until there is a valid item render list.

There are some features that are "missing" in my opinion - like applying Modifiers (temporarily before bake and on the final object). I was able to add those features myself though and now things are working nicely. (nicely structured code! I appreciated that)

What i do not enjoy so much is that you can only bake with one defined setting and if you want another setting on a specific object (one with 8k bake, one with 4k bake), you have to change settings manually before "Auto Bake" - i would love to have the add-on remember settings per object.

This Add-on did really help my project and I am very glad I stumbled across it. Thanks for the read

Thank you for your honest and detail packed review, Jonas! Notes have been taken on all the points you mentioned. Some are already implemented, fixed, or changed, and will be available in the next major update. If you want, please don't hesitate to reach out with more details about the modifier apply idea, image flooding, and any edge case errors. I really appreciate you taking the time to write your review! Cheers!

Baking a texture equal or greater to 8192x8192 always seems to crash blender, irrespective of the complexity of the geometry of the baked mesh. I tried it with a cube and it still did not work.

Hi there, sorry to hear this. Blender may crash if it runs out of available VRAM/RAM during the bake if your config does not have enough for a texture of that size. It can happen regardless of the complexity of the mesh. Feel free to contact me for assistance with possible solutions.

It's useless. I made my own script in Blender for that and it turned out just as good, or even better, than buying this piece of garbage.
