Never lose your place to check a shot again.
Camera Live Preview is a lightweight add-on that renders exactly what your camera sees, live, in a small overlay box inside the 3D viewport. No more switching to Camera View and losing your working angle every time you want to check framing.
- Renders a real-time preview of the active, selected camera directly in the viewport
- Click and drag the preview anywhere you want it to live
- Set an exact Width/Height in pixels, with an optional aspect-ratio lock
- Snap it to any corner, with adjustable margin
- Shows the camera's name in a clean label, and a customizable border, both fully recolorable
- Matches your scene's actual render aspect ratio (letterboxed), or fills the box edge-to-edge
- One click restores every setting to default
- Built on the modern GPU module: no deprecated APIs, fast, and built for version 5.2 LTS and newer
If you animate cameras, block out cinematics, or just do a lot of camera framing work, the Camera View round-trip adds up. Every check costs you your current viewport angle and your navigation flow.
Camera Live Preview keeps you in your working view while still showing you the truth: what's actually going to render.

Does this slow down my viewport?
It uses the built-in offscreen GPU rendering, the same machinery a real 3D View uses, and respects your current shading mode (Solid / Material Preview / Rendered). Its cost tracks whatever shading mode you're already working in.
Can I preview more than one camera at once?
Not in v1.0.0. It always shows the active camera. Multi-camera support is a strong candidate for a future update.
Will this work with my existing camera animation or rig?
Yes. It reads the camera's current transform every frame, so it updates through animation, drivers, or scripted camera moves automatically.
