Blender Addon / Extension Chat Companion, version 1.6.8, made by Polygoningenieur Gustav Hahn. Chat Companion is an AI assistant and chatbot inside Blender that lets you use LLMs (large language models) without leaving your scene. It supports Blender 5.0, Blender 4.5 and Blender 4.2 LTS. Chat Companion is available in two versions: the Full version with all features and future updates, and the Free(*ish) version with the basic features, which is no longer free but costs only $1. The Free(*ish) version lets you ask anything, formats the answers, keeps a history and works with the OpenAI models. The Full version adds the Claude and Gemini models, LM Studio and Ollama support, code completion, interactive answers, text-to-speech, the user interface help and attachments. You can chat with cloud models from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic, i.e. the ChatGPT / GPT, Google Gemini and Claude models, with your own API key. You can also run local AI models with LM Studio and Ollama: install LM Studio or Ollama, load or pull a model, and use it directly in Blender, offline, with no API costs and no API key necessary. This makes you more efficient, you get direct help while using Blender, and it supports you in coding. You can ask it anything you want: about scripting with Python in Blender (bpy, the Blender Python API, and Python scripting in general), about the usage of Blender, and about any topic not related to Blender. Chat Companion displays its answers neatly in paragraphs, code segments and lists, streamed word by word. It lets you conveniently run any code it shows you, and you can copy the code to a new text file, to your cursor in the current text file or to the clipboard. If the generated code throws an error, a button appears to ask Chat Companion to fix it. Inside the Blender text editor, you can select your pseudo code and ask Chat Companion for code completion. On many UI elements in Blender, you can right click and ask Chat Companion what this button or setting does, and it explains it to you in a brief but complete manner. With text-to-speech, Chat Companion reads the answers out loud to you, and you can select the voice. A history panel lets you track your conversations, mark answers as favorites, delete and reorder them, enable or disable entries, and choose which history context is automatically sent along with your prompt. You can attach multiple text files and documents to a question, to easily pass along information or ask about a script from your hard drive. You can see the token count for your next prompt, send your prompt with Ctrl-Enter, and optionally send your Blender version along to get more detailed answers.
