What does this add-on do?
It lets you paste any image from your system clipboard directly into Blender as a 3D plane, a reference image, or a viewport background—without saving the file first.
How do I use it?
Copy any image (Ctrl + C or ⌘ + C).
In Blender’s 3D Viewport press Ctrl + Shift + V.
Pick a paste mode: Images as Plane, Reference, or Background.
My shortcut conflicts with another add-on. Can I change it?
Yes. Go to Edit → Preferences → Keymap, search for image.paste_menu_call, and assign a new hotkey.
Do I need extra software?
Windows: No extra tools required.
macOS: Install pngpaste (brew install pngpaste).
Linux: Install xclip or wl-clipboard (sudo apt install xclip or sudo apt install wl-clipboard).
Where do I find the controls in Blender?
Open the right-hand sidebar (N) → Image Paste tab for quick buttons and instructions.
You can also access the pop-up menu with the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + V.
I get “No image found in clipboard.” What should I do?
Ensure you copied an actual image, not just a file path or text.
On macOS/Linux, confirm the required clipboard utility is installed and working.
Try copying a PNG screenshot to test.
Why is the pasted plane black or missing textures?
The image might not have loaded correctly. Check the Image Editor to see if the image data-block exists. If not, re-copy the image and try again.
Can I resize the pasted plane automatically?
Yes. The add-on has an Auto Scale to Image Ratio option so the plane matches the original image’s aspect ratio.
Will the pasted images increase my .blend file size?
Yes, each pasted image is stored as an image data-block. For large or numerous images, save and pack them carefully to manage file size.
Is it safe to use in commercial projects?
Absolutely. The add-on simply imports images; you are responsible for the copyright/licensing of the images you copy.
How do I get updates or support?
Updates are delivered through your Blender Market account.
