Oebs Driver Espresso
Which Blender versions does Driver Espresso support?
The current packages support Blender 4.2.0 or newer, and that applies to all three editions. There are no external dependencies to install - just the ZIP through Blender's own add-on installer.
Do I need to keep Driver Espresso installed for my animation to play?
No. What the add-on creates are ordinary Blender drivers, so the motion keeps playing in a file opened without Espresso installed, and it renders normally on a machine that has never had it. You need the add-on to adjust an applied effect through its controls. If you are moving a Ball Bounce setup between files, copy its helper objects along with the ball, since it samples them.
What is the difference between Lite, Driver Espresso and Premium?
They differ in how much of the catalogue you get and which preview you can use. Lite has 18 templates across 6 categories and Graph Preview. Driver Espresso has 135 templates across 15 categories, and adds Favorites & Recent and input-driven recipes. Premium has 230 templates across 22 categories and is the only edition with Visual Preview, which draws the motion as a picture rather than a curve. All three need Blender 4.2.0 or newer, and you only install one.
Can I still edit the animation by hand afterwards?
Yes. You can tune an applied effect through the panel's Live mode, edit the driver directly in Blender's own editors, or bake the result down to keyframes if you want to hand-animate from there. Save a copy before baking so the tunable original is still available.
I pressed Play and nothing moves. What did I miss?
Usually one of three things: the template was previewed but never applied, the playhead is outside the recipe's active time span, or an input-driven recipe has no changing source feeding it. For one-shot motion, scrub back before its start frame. The Troubleshooting page in the documentation walks through each case.
The live panel says live controls are unavailable. Why?
The effect lives on the datablock that owns it or on the object it was applied on, which is not always the object you have selected - a mesh can be driven through its material, its light data or a separate controller. Find that object with the applied datablock and the live controls will appear. The Targets & Live page covers how to track one down.
Can I upgrade from Lite to a larger edition later?
Yes. simply uninstall the edition you have, then install and enable the new one. Do not delete your scene's drivers or helper objects in between - the editions share operator names, which is also why only one should be enabled at a time.
