Edgy cuts damage into the edges and surfaces of a closed mesh.
Edgy modifies the mesh itself. It does not use a texture or a shader to suggest damage. The damage is therefore visible in the silhouette, at any camera distance, and in any render engine.
The input mesh is not changed. The result is written to a second object next to it. Six modules produce the damage, each with its own settings. Three presets are included as starting points.

Six damage modules
- Chips. Small chips along the exposed edges. Count, size and depth are set as ranges. A second pass places smaller chips on the rims of the first.
- Corners. Larger damage at the points where several exposed edges meet.
- Surface. Shallow craters on the flat areas, distributed by area.
- Fracture. Crack networks in up to three levels. A crack can also follow a guide spline you draw.
- Buildup. Material added instead of removed, along the inner corners and in the nooks.
- Breaker. Removes whole pieces. The break shape is one of three generated forms (plane, sphere, strip) or a mesh you supply. The exposed break surface receives its own chips.
Details
- Settings can be saved as a named preset and applied to any other Edgy object. A preset is a single file and can be passed on to someone else.
- The result is cached. While you drag a slider or a breaker, nothing is recomputed until you stop.
- Each damage type is written to its own face attribute and material slot, so it can carry a separate material.
- A vertex group limits where damage appears.
- The UV mapping of the input mesh is carried through to the result. The damage faces get their own projection in a separate UV tile.
- The same settings and the same seed produce the same result on Windows and on macOS.
- An offline manual is included. Every panel has a button that opens the matching page, and F1 on any field does the same.
Included
- Blender 4.2 LTS or newer on Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon).
- The offline manual, with a full parameter reference.
- The full source code.
Requirements
Blender 4.2 LTS or newer on Windows or macOS (Apple Silicon). There is one download per operating system. It contains everything and works in Blender 4.2 LTS, 4.5 LTS and 5.x alike, so the same file can be installed in every Blender on the machine.
Edgy cuts closed (watertight) meshes. There are no further dependencies, no online activation and no license keys.
License
Edgy for Blender is licensed under the GNU GPL v3, the add-on and the compute core alike. The source of the core is published at github.com/corneliusdammrich/edgy-core.
