What does the Godot bridge do?
It sends your selected Blender meshes as glTF straight into a Godot project, where Godot 4 imports them natively the moment the editor gets focus — no File ▸ Import and no exporting a file by hand. It's also two-way: you can pull a glTF that Godot exported back into Blender in one click.
How do assets get into Godot — do I need an importer plugin?
No. The bridge exports glTF (.glb) into your project folder, and Godot 4 imports and re-imports it automatically on editor focus. There's nothing to install on the Godot side to receive assets.
What's the optional Godot editor plugin for, then?
Convenience only. One click copies a small editor plugin into your project that adds an "Open Blender" + rescan button to the Godot toolbar. Enable it under Project Settings ▸ Plugins if you want it — Godot imports glTF perfectly well without it.
Which Godot version do I need?
Godot 4. Any Godot 4.x build works, because Godot 4 imports and re-imports glTF natively. Godot is free and open source.
Can it bring geometry back from Godot into Blender?
Yes. Get from Godot imports `godot_to_blender.glb` into a dedicated "Godot Import" collection. You can Update just the re-sent objects (keeping everything else) or Replace all of them.
What export options are there?
glTF Binary (.glb, a single self-contained file) or separate .gltf + .bin, materials/textures on or off, correct Y-up orientation for Godot, a chosen subfolder inside the project, and an optional fixed output file.
Can I control which modifiers get applied?
Yes. Turn on Apply Modifiers and the panel lists the active mesh's modifiers with a checkbox each (plus All / None). Only the ticked modifiers are baked on send; the rest are muted for the export and restored right after — your scene is untouched.
Does it change my Blender scene?
No, it's non-destructive, with an optional "Godot Backup" collection before send. Modifier baking happens only on the exported copy, never on your originals.
What tools does it share with the rest of the Universal Bridge line?
Preflight (unapplied transforms, missing UVs/materials, n-gons, non-manifold edges, with safe fixes), a Naming helper (low / high / LOD / UCX / socket), Selection Sets, Send History, Versioned Files, a Command Palette and batch Send Each Collection — all on the same sidebar tab.
Which Blender versions are supported?
Blender 3.3 through 5.2. On 4.2+ it installs as a modern Extension; on 3.3–4.1 as a classic add-on. Windows.
Can I use it for commercial work?
Yes. Like all Blender add-ons it's licensed under the GPL, so you can use it in any commercial project. Godot itself is free and open source under the MIT license.
Can I change the icons, or turn them off?

Yes. Preferences ▸ Button Icons offers Brand Colours (the default, each bridge in its own colour), Mono with a colour swatch you pick, and Blender Built-ins if you would rather have no custom icons at all. Colour-code Status decides whether link and modifier icons keep their green / amber / red. The icons are drawn from masks and tinted as they load, so any colour stays crisp.
