Gradient Flow

duchen in Materials and Shading

What types of models does GradientFlow support?
GradientFlow is designed for mesh models in Blender. It supports Linear, Radial, Path, and Freeform gradients directly on the model surface. You can also reuse gradient setups across models with different sizes and proportions.
Do I need to unwrap UVs to use GradientFlow?
No. You can create and edit gradients directly on the model without UV unwrapping. When the result is ready, GradientFlow can bake it directly into the model’s color attributes without creating additional color textures.
Can I continue editing a gradient after baking?
Yes. GradientFlow uses a non-destructive workflow. Control points, colors, gradient layers, blend modes, and opacity remain editable. You can also clear the baked result and return to the live editing state.
Can I copy a gradient setup to other models?
Yes. Select a source model, add one or more target models, and GradientFlow will automatically map the control points according to each model’s boundary proportions. This is ideal for product families, repeated components, and batch assets.
Can I create gradients from colors in an image?

Yes. GradientFlow supports both Point Mode and Path Mode for image color sampling. Click areas of an image to extract individual colors, or draw a sampling path to capture a complete color transition. Sampling points and color counts can be adjusted at any time.
