Light Director 2.0 - Procedural Lighting System
Is it compatible with other lighting addons?
Not currently. Light Director is built to manage Blender's native lighting system. It does not currently sync with custom data from other lighting tools, but I am prioritizing new integrations based on community feedback.
Can I parent lights to other objects?
Yes, but the parent relationship itself is not saved. The system records the light's exact location in 3D space at the moment of saving. To avoid conflicts, I recommend finalizing your lighting setups before parenting them to objects or empties.
Does Light Director support animated lights?
Yes. Any animation applied directly to the light object itself (such as movement or intensity) is preserved.
Why does my setup turn red (indicating unsaved changes) when I scrub the timeline, even if I haven't touched any settings?
This happens if your lights have animated properties (like keyframes, or noise modifiers). As you scrub the timeline, Blender constantly recalculates values like position and energy frame-by-frame. Light Director sees these actively changing numbers and flags them as a mismatch from your saved, static setup. We maintain this behavior for two reasons:
1. Performance: Scanning complex animation curves in real-time could cause severe interface lag.
2. Safety: Ignoring animated properties entirely would mean the addon wouldn't warn you if you actually tweaked a keyframe, leading to lost work.
