Pixel Kit - One-Click Pixel Art Renderer
Top FAQ
1. What does Pixel Kit actually do? It's a Blender addon that turns your render into pixel art inside the compositor. It downscales the image to a pixel grid, processes outline, palette, and alpha at that grid resolution, then restores the output with nearest-neighbor scaling so pixel blocks stay hard and crisp.
2. How is this different from just downscaling and upscaling my render in Photoshop? Blender renders in linear color space. Downscaling and upscaling in an external editor typically uses smooth (bilinear) resampling by default, which blurs edges, and applying a basic posterize effect afterward tends to look muddy because it's not working in perceptual color space. Pixel Kit processes everything at the actual grid resolution with nearest-neighbor scaling and gamma-correct color quantization, so edges stay sharp and color steps look even. It's also non-destructive and lives inside your Blender file, so there's no export-edit-reimport cycle.
3. Does Pixel Kit work with Cycles and EEVEE? Yes. It operates in the compositor on the rendered image after the Render Layers node, so it works with any render engine. The Crisp Render option also nudges EEVEE's TAA sample count up slightly when EEVEE is active, to keep results clean at a tighter render filter.
