Does it change my .blend?
Only when you save the text file and Plainscene applies it. Blender never rewrites the text file on its own; the panel tells you the scene changed and waits for you to press Regenerate File.
What happens if I save a file that is out of date?
It stops as a conflict and asks which side wins. It is never applied silently.
Can I add or delete objects in the text?
No, on purpose. Adding and deleting stay in Blender. The text file edits names, parenting, collection membership and flags.
Do I need VS Code?
No. The file is plain UTF-8 text and errors are reported by the add-on with line numbers. The VS Code extension is included as a convenience.
Does it work with linked or overridden data?
Bone hierarchies and object hierarchies of local data. Linked data that Blender itself will not let you rename is refused with a reason, not silently skipped.
