Polygon Crusher 9000
Where do the decimated meshes go after I press Crush?
A "Crushed" collection is created at the scene root (or reused if it already exists), and every output is placed there with a _crushed suffix on the object and mesh name. By default the source object is hidden so you can compare the two; toggle "Keep Original" off to delete sources instead. Output objects inherit the source's world transform so they sit exactly where the originals did.
What Blender versions and platforms are supported?
Blender 4.2 and newer (uses the Extensions framework). Tested through Blender 5.1. The addon ships with native binaries for both macOS (Apple Silicon arm64) and Windows (x86_64) — the correct one is auto-selected for your machine. No external dependencies, no compilation required.
Does it preserve UVs, normals, and materials?
All three. UVs are carried through every edge collapse using per-corner storage (so UV seams stay intact and your textures still apply). Custom split normals are baked onto the output via BVH lookup against the source for clean smooth-shading on scans and sculpts. Material slots are copied from the source mesh onto the crushed result.
Does it respect my modifier stack (Booleans, Subdivision, Mirror, Remesh, etc.)?
Yes. The addon evaluates and decimates the post-modifier mesh — exactly what's shown in your viewport. So Booleans, Subdivision, Mirror, Remesh, Geometry Nodes, and any other modifier output are all crushed correctly. The original modifier stack on the source object is left untouched; the result is a fresh clean mesh.
How is this different from Blender's built-in Decimate modifier?
Polygon Crusher 9000 uses a native C++ backend with the Fast-Quadric Mesh Simplification algorithm — it's significantly faster on multi-million-poly meshes than the built-in Decimate, especially at high reduction ratios. It also runs in parallel across multiple selected objects, ships modifier-aware extraction (decimates what you see in the viewport, not the base mesh), and preserves per-corner normals, UVs, and material slots through every edge collapse.
