Procedural Cooked Ground Meat

Simon Eberl in Procedural Generators

Is my computer good enough?
That is really hard to say. I have found that patties look best with 15 million tris for closeup shots. You can get away with less polygons for sure though. I'd recommend to just subdivide a sphere as many times as you can until your computer crashes. If it can handle 15-30+ million tris, you should be fine!
Can I add custom meshes?
Yes you can! As long as its a closed mesh it will work! Make sure to check your normals and apply transforms. I also recommend to scale down the custom meshes to around a patty size. That way it looks best.
Whats the recommended detail level for the generator?

For anything thats patty sized, I can recommend:
Detail 0 - 2 is great for playing with the settings as its not too high res.
Detail 3 gives you a really good amount of detail already, however its not good enough for macro shots.
Detail 4-5 give you perfect results for macro shots.
Detail 6 is perfect if you hate your computer.

Keep in mind the detail levels are relative to size. If you have a really large mesh, detail level 0-2 might already produce a very high poly mesh. Just keep in mind that you wont be able to create macro shots of too large meshs, as there is no way you can have a massive mesh with a high polygon density. For patties I have found that 15million tris gives really good results!

Can I eat the meat?
No, you can not.
