Procedural Growth grows editable ivy and moss over any mesh in Blender 5.2, fully non-destructive and driven by Geometry Nodes. Pick a mesh, press Create, and art-direct the result with live preview: the target mesh is never modified.
Engulf: animate ivy covering an object
Place the 3D Cursor, choose Ivy → Engulf and press Create. A stem network spreads over every surface from that point. Keyframe Coverage from 0 to 100% to animate the object being overtaken; leaves bloom as the front passes.
Ivy
- Quick, Guided (follow your own curve), Draw-on-surface and Engulf workflows
- Growth animation with branch and leaf delay, easing and seed-stable variation
- Wind with per-leaf phase offsets; stems stay stable
- Six effectors: Attract, Repel, Block, Trim, Leaf Exclude, Branch Exclude
- Paint growth area and growth steering; interactive Cut Ivy
- Random secondary branches, stem thickness, leaf count and size controls
- 17 leaf styles in a visual Image Leaf Gallery: a 12-leaf ivy atlas plus Virginia Creeper, Boston Ivy, Creeping Fig and Heartleaf Vine
Moss
- Deterministic colony assets with fronds, micro-leaves and capsules that read as a carpet at distance
- Patch Scale, Patchiness and Patch Contrast for natural islands instead of uniform scatter
- Environment masks: Slope × Cavity × Height × Paint × Noise, plus optional Moisture, with a heatmap preview
- Micro, Mid and Macro biome layers
- 19 built-in themes in a Material Gallery: natural, fantasy, glow, glass and spectral looks, including Cycles caustics for the glass preset
- Weight-paint moss distribution per system
Decay and environment
- Keyframe Decay: leaves yellow, brown and fall from the tips toward the root while stems dry; key back to 0 to revive exactly
- Your own materials can be decay stages
- A shared Environment controller drives Moisture and Age across many ivy and moss systems
Production ready
- Draft / Balanced / High / Hero quality, separate viewport and render density, viewport proxy
- Camera distance LOD and moss asset LOD
- Native Geometry Nodes bake (current or all systems), Duplicate + Convert to mesh
- 11 ivy and 12 moss presets; save, import and export your own as JSON
- Multiple ivy and moss systems on one target; delete removes only what the add-on created
