Does it phone home or need network access?
No. Review Kit declares no network permission, has no dependencies and never touches the network. The PDF writer is built into the add-on.
My custom template won't load in older Blender versions. (rvk_callout_box.blend)
.blend files are not backward-compatible: a file saved in Blender 5.x cannot be read by 3.6 or 4.2 ("not a blend file"). Save your template with the oldest Blender version you work with — it will load fine in all newer ones.
Jump does nothing / the viewport doesn't change?
Check whether your viewport uses a local camera (the header then shows "Camera Perspective (Local)"). Review Kit handles this since v0.7.1 — with older versions, disable the local camera in the sidebar's View tab.
I want clean renders without the note markers.
Turn off Burn Notes into Images in the Export panel — the view images stay clean and notes appear only as text lists in the PDF. For your own renders outside the export, hide the RVK_Notes collection in the render.
What does the add-on put into my scene?
Two collections — RVK_Views for the view cameras and RVK_Notes for the note objects — plus rvk_* properties on those objects and one node group (RVK_Callout) with its material. Everything is ordinary Blender data, saved with the file. No sidecar files, no external state.
Why are there two ZIP files?
Blender 4.2 introduced the new Extensions format, which older versions cannot install; and the old add-on format is deprecated in 4.2+. One ZIP per format covers everything from 3.6 to current releases with identical features.
