UPDATE V1.1.1: Merge tools now safely ignore linked assets to prevent library errors.
UPDATE V1.1: Added Mesh Renamer and UV Standardizer for perfect Unreal Engine exports!
Tired of messy .blend files and .001 duplicates? Whenever you append or import assets into Blender, your file quickly becomes cluttered with Material.001, Texture.002, and unnecessary orphaned data. Not only does this slow down your viewport, but it also creates an absolute nightmare when exporting to game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
Meet Scene Optimizer Scene Optimizer is a lightweight, non-intrusive add-on designed for 3D Artists and Game Developers. It lives right in your N-Panel and does the heavy lifting for you. With a single click, it scans your scene, merges identical materials and textures, and deep-cleans your memory.
Key Features:
Merge Duplicate Materials: Automatically finds materials with the same base name (ignoring .001, .002 suffixes), remaps all objects to the original master material, and deletes the clones.
Merge Duplicate Textures: Does the exact same magic for Image Textures, preventing duplicated files from bloating your project and game engine exports.
Deep Purge (Unused Data): A recursive purge button that forces Blender to delete all orphaned data (meshes, materials, images) until the file is completely clean.
Batch Apply Modifiers: Select multiple objects and apply all their modifiers at once safely. Perfect for finalizing your meshes before FBX/GLTF export.
Match Mesh to Object: Automatically renames the underlying mesh data to match your object's name. Essential for clean Outliner organization.
Standardize UV Maps: Renames the active UV channels to 'UVMap', preventing broken textures and multiple UV sets when joining meshes for game engines.
Compatibility:
Fully compatible with the new Blender Extensions system.
Works seamlessly on Blender 4.2 LTS and the upcoming Blender 5.0+.
How to Use:
Select your objects.
Press "N" to open the side panel and go to the "Scene Optimizer" tab.
Click to Merge, Purge, or Apply Modifiers. Done!
