this its the bestest addon ever made for blender! really impressive and to say this is useful is an extreme understatement. i dont think a blender addon ever made me as euphoric as this one did. if you are even remotely interested in blender scripting or need some custom stuff made GET THIS RIGHT NOW YOU WONT REGRET IT

Very cool stuff. Hoping to see this catch on and create some cool stuff.

    Very good addon!
Recommended for absolute beginners but also for programmers who want to build quick prototypes.

I'm used to everything from Unreal Blueprints to Rhino Grasshopper and this is the most convoluted and unintuitive node experience I have ever tried! Every new Blender version Serpens scripts randomly stops working, and when they error out you get a Python line reference even though YOU CANNOT SEE THE CODE! Also, nodes are fine and all, but you will spend most of your time looking at the massive "Blend Data" list and copying and pasting from there which makes the graph difficult to descipher, and often also you have to enter Python code snippets and I'm not even doing advanced things! I mean it works and the design is theoretically neat, but for the first time trying something node based, I am doubting that this is better.

Joshua is definitely a master in coding, and the addon is a masterpiece. But I guess I am the only one who doesn't like it despite that. So here is why it's not for me:

    - It leaves code you usually won't write. Most likely, it's because it's automated or "compiled" from nodes, and there is no other way.

    - While the naming of the nodes makes sense if you are familiar with coding, there is no documentation of the nodes. In comparison, there is loads of information on the internet books and courses about Blender API. So if you are not familiar with coding, the nodes won't make sense. You can ask for support and do trial and error, but there is no book/documentation/course like there is for Blender python/API. Support is fantastic, but I don't want to go to support for every little thing.

So for me, it's simple: why not go straight and learn it the proper way. Otherwise, it's first learning Serpens, then learning how to code. You could think, "Serpens will teach you how to code," but I don't think so. You learn to ride a bike by riding a bike and coding by coding.

I also tried Serpens two years ago, but the same experience now.
I wrote more than six addons myself, two quite complex, so I should feel confident using Serpens, but it's not the case. Instead, it feels like randomly trying to connect nodes and hoping you got wiser. (Yes, there is the shift button to see the compatible nodes).

Well, that's pure my experience and it looks like I am the only one, so big chance it might be the tool for you. Everyone is enthusiastic about it.

Update: For Serpens 3 we now have documentation on the addon and every node (https://joshuaknauber.notion.site/Serpens-Documentation-d44c98df6af64d7c9a7925020af11233).
There is still code that you wouldn't necessarily write. As you said this is because we're generating it. Serpens addons aren't meant to be edited after they are exported but this is a tradeoff that seems reasonable for the ease of use. Complex addons (multifile addons) still make more sense to develop manually as you just have more control this way.
We had quite a few people that started to learn coding with Serpens, integrating scripts with nodes helps here too. If you prefer learning python on its own go for it, Serpens is just a tool to support making this easier.

The documentation is stored using notion so that it cannot be read using the browser translation function, which is very difficult for non-English speaking users.
Documentation is not up to date and some of the nodes shown in the images are no longer available.
Some nodes are not available at all, such as Frame
I'm familiar with UE blueprints and have basic experience with Blender, but this plugin is as difficult to use as all the other node features of Blender, maybe it's not the plugin's fault that I seem to need to understand Blender's internal APIs first, whereas UE blueprints have no such problems at all
I can use UE blueprints with almost nothing more than a little basic programming common sense, and this plugin doesn't, and I can't see at all what any of the nodes in this plugin's functionality can do

Notion isn't ideal for translation but there are browser extensions to still translate it.
The documentation is up to date, you might be on an old version of the addon if it's not. If you find any issues please report them.
Frames are available, not sure where you're getting that from.

For the difficulty, Serpens is meant to help you understand the blender API. There is some abstraction, but you still need to learn some things. The more experience you have with blender, the easier it should be to pick up. There's also plenty of videos and help in the discord for specific issues.

The documentation is terrible, with almost no pictures of example node setups. You will spends hours trying to figure out how to do basic things or begging people on discord for help. Serpens is a excellent example of an addon that needs to be forked by the community.

Hey, could you elaborate on that? There are videos on YouTube to get you started with the basics. From there the documentation has tons of details on the different aspects of Serpens.
It didn't seem like you spent too much time on discord asking for questions, I only saw one that hadn't been answered by the community after a short while. Please reach out to me directly if something like this is the case and you need more help.
