Shape Falloff - Object-Driven Masks for Geometry & Shaders
Do I need the add-on installed to render, or on a render farm?
No. The setup is ordinary nodes saved in your file, so it renders on any machine, with or without Shape Falloff.
Does it work in EEVEE and Cycles?
Yes, both. The mask is a geometry attribute, so any material on the object can read it.
Can I animate it?
Yes. Keyframe the empty and the mask updates every frame. There is nothing to bake.
Can one empty drive several objects?
Yes. Pick the same empty in each setup. Moving it moves every mask, and selecting it lists every setup it drives.
Will it change my existing materials?
It adds an Attribute node and a Color Ramp. If Base Color is already connected, it leaves your link alone, adds the two nodes unwired and tells you which objects need a hand link.
Can I use the falloff in my own geometry nodes tree?
Yes. Press Shift+A in the Geometry Node editor and pick Shape Falloff at the bottom. Its Result drives anything that takes a factor.
Which Blender versions does it support?
Blender 4.2 and newer, from one package. It is tested up to Blender 5.2.
Can I use it commercially?
Yes. It is GPL with source included.
