Installation {#installation}

  1. Download the skava_game_asset_validator.py file

  2. In Blender, go to Edit → Preferences → Add-ons

  3. Click "Install" and select the downloaded file

  4. Enable "Game Development: SKAVA Game Asset Validator"

  5. The addon panel appears in 3D Viewport → Sidebar (N) → SKAVA tab

Quick Start Guide {#quick-start}

Basic Validation Workflow:

  1. Select objects to validate (or use "Validate All")

  2. Choose your target engine preset

  3. Click "Validate Assets"

  4. Review issues in the Validation Report panel

  5. Use "Auto Fix All" or fix individual issues

  6. Re-validate to confirm fixes

Validation Modules {#validation-modules}

1. Geometry Validator

Checks for:

  • N-gons (faces with >4 vertices)

  • Loose vertices (unconnected vertices)

  • Non-manifold edges (edges shared by >2 faces)

  • Zero-area faces (degenerate geometry)

  • Duplicate vertices (overlapping vertex positions)

  • Vertex count limits (engine-specific)

2. UV Mapping Validator

Detects:

  • Missing UV maps

  • UV coordinates outside 0-1 range

  • Low UV space usage (<70%)

  • Overlapping UV islands

3. Material Validator

Identifies:

  • Missing materials

  • Empty material slots

  • Complex material setups (>50 nodes)

  • Missing texture references

4. Texture Validator

Validates:

  • Texture size limits

  • Power-of-two requirements

  • Supported file formats

  • Missing texture data

5. Naming Convention Validator

Ensures:

  • Valid character usage

  • Proper prefixes/suffixes

  • LOD naming standards

  • Collision object naming

6. Hierarchy Validator

Checks:

  • Non-uniform scale

  • Unapplied rotations

  • Parenting issues

7. Performance Validator

Analyzes:

  • Polygon count by platform

  • Material count (draw calls)

  • Memory usage estimation

  • LOD requirements

8. Animation Validator

Validates:

  • Bone influence limits

  • Armature setup

  • Shape key count

  • Missing armature targets

9. Collision Validator

Ensures:

  • Proper collision naming

  • Convex collision meshes

  • Simplified collision geometry

10. Normal Validator

Detects:

  • Inverted normals

  • Custom normal data

  • Sharp edge marking

11. Modifier Validator

Identifies:

  • Unapplied modifiers

  • High subdivision levels

  • Export-blocking modifiers

Auto-Fix Functions {#auto-fix}

Available auto-fixes:

  • fix_ngons - Triangulate n-gons

  • fix_loose_vertices - Remove unconnected vertices

  • fix_non_manifold - Repair non-manifold edges

  • fix_zero_area_faces - Remove degenerate faces

  • fix_duplicate_vertices - Merge duplicate vertices

  • create_uv_map - Generate UV mapping

  • fix_uv_bounds - Clamp UVs to 0-1 range

  • optimize_uv_layout - Pack UV islands efficiently

  • apply_scale - Apply object scale

  • apply_rotation - Apply object rotation

  • create_default_material - Add missing materials

  • generate_lods - Create LOD levels

  • generate_collision - Create collision meshes

  • And many more...

  • Affected objects

  • Issue categories

  • Auto-fix availability

  • Detailed statistics

  • Timestamp and version info

Troubleshooting

Common Issues:

Q: Auto-fix doesn't seem to work A: Ensure objects are not locked and modifiers allow editing. Check System Console for detailed error messages.

Q: Validation is slow on large scenes A: Disable unnecessary validators and validate in smaller batches.

Q: Missing features after update A: Restart Blender after updating the addon.

Best Practices

  1. Validate Early and Often - Don't wait until export

  2. Use Engine Presets - Match your target platform

  3. Fix Critical Issues First - Address by severity

  4. Create Validation Profiles - Save settings for different asset types

  5. Document Exceptions - Some warnings may be intentional

  6. Integrate into Pipeline - Use JSON export for automation
