Cad Tools
Is it beginner-friendly?
Yes. Tools are selection-based and include built-in hints, but basic Blender knowledge is recommended.
Does it require hotkeys?
No. All tools are accessible from the side panel. Hotkeys are available for common actions.
Can it fix broken CAD imports (OBJ, STL)?
The Simplify tool can clean up noisy, triangulated, or broken meshes, including removing loose geometry, fixing normals, and optionally filling holes.
Is it suitable for 3D printing?
Yes. The Simplify tool includes a Solid mode for generating watertight meshes suitable for printing.
Does it support non-manifold workflows?
Mostly no. Most tools require manifold source geometry. Shell will not start on open or non-manifold input, and Loft blocks non-manifold results. Split can produce open cuts by design. Simplify reports remaining non-manifold edges but does not forcibly resolve them.
Will it preserve materials?
Not always. Some operations may reset or not preserve materials to maintain clean and predictable topology.
Does it work in Edit Mode?
Yes. All core tools are designed to work directly in Edit Mode, including island-based operations.
Is this the same as Solidify or Boolean modifiers?
No. CAD Tools uses dedicated workflows designed for predictable results and cleaner topology, especially in Edit Mode.
Does this replace Blender’s native tools?
No. CAD Tools is designed to complement Blender, not replace it. It provides structured workflows for cases where precision and repeatability matter.
