Splatlight
Is LITE actually free?
Yes its free. It's the full viewer and relighter. every supported import format, the shading stack, relighting with gaussian self-shadows, and .ply export. If you upgrade later, LITE scenes open in PRO as-is; nothing has to be redone.
Which Blender versions and platforms does it support?
Blender 4.2 or newer, installed as an extension — tested through 5.2. Import, relighting, editing and export work on any platform. The two AI generators (Video → Splat and Image → Splat) currently target Windows.
Do I need an NVIDIA GPU?
Only recommended, and only for the AI tools. The trainer runs on any modern GPU, and a CPU build of the camera solver installs automatically if no NVIDIA card is found. Importing, relighting and editing don't need anything special.
Who owns what I make with it?
You do. The addon is GPL-3.0 like every Blender addon; splats you import, train or generate — and anything you render with them — are yours, for commercial work included.
Does it render in both EEVEE and Cycles?
Both, including the gaussian self-shadows. EEVEE for speed with hashed transparent shadows, Cycles with shadow rays that absorb through the gaussians. Cycles is not recommended though as it is quite intense performance wise.
Does anything run in the cloud?
Almost nothing. Video → Splat and Image → Splat run entirely on your machine — no account, nothing uploaded. The one exception is Prompt → World, which is a bridge to World Labs Marble, a separate paid service: you bring your own API key and pay-as-you-go credits (about $1.20 a world, $5 minimum, no subscription). Marble is not included with Splatlight, and the other generators don't need it.
Can I rig and animate a capture?
Yes (PRO). One click builds a watertight proxy mesh, you bind the splats to it, and then it behaves like any mesh — armatures with automatic weights, lattices, shape keys, cloth, softbody.
What formats does it import?
.ply (standard and compressed), .sog including tiled LOD scenes, and 4D SpacetimeGaussians .ply with timeline playback (playback is PRO). Export is standard .ply.
Will my relit splat still look right outside Blender?
Yes, if you bake it (PRO). Baking writes your lighting into a per-splat attribute, and the exported standard .ply keeps the relit look in SuperSplat, PlayCanvas, or any viewer that reads .ply.
