Scatter — Batch Object Export

Sporemind in Import & Export

One object. One file. One batch.

Scatter is a batch object exporter for Blender. Select your props, choose a format and export each object into its own file. Stop repeating the same export dialog for every asset.

Use selected objects, an active collection with its children, or visible objects in your current view layer. Choose FBX, GLB/glTF, OBJ, STL or USD and organize the results with collection folders and reusable settings.

A repeatable export workflow

  • Individual asset files: each object receives a separate output file.
  • Flexible naming: combine object names, collection names and dates with templates such as SM_{name}.
  • Safer output: duplicate names receive numeric suffixes; existing output is preserved by default. Overwrite is an explicit option.
  • Origin choices: keep each object's origin or use the 3D Cursor, bounding-box centre or world origin.
  • Geometry options: apply modifiers or export the base geometry; optionally bake object transforms into the exported mesh.
  • Image resources: copy supported image textures for FBX, OBJ and USD, including packed images and images inside shader groups.
  • Reusable presets: save your settings and start from the four bundled FBX, glTF and USD presets.
  • Clear results: inspect exported, skipped and failed objects in the result log.

Your source scene stays intact

Scatter works on temporary copies. Source geometry, object names, transforms, selection and the 3D cursor are restored after the export, including exporter errors. Export settings and result logs are Scene properties; Scatter does not automatically save your .blend.

Supported outputs

FBX · GLB · glTF separate · glTF embedded · OBJ · STL · USD (.usdc)

Keep sidecar files and image folders together when transferring an export. STL carries mesh geometry only. Apply Modifiers OFF exports base geometry; these formats do not preserve editable Blender modifier stacks.

What is included?

Scatter 1.0.1 extension ZIP, readable source code, four starting presets and the English user manual. Find the interface in the 3D Viewport: N → Batch Export. The demonstration models shown in the gallery are not included.

Compatibility and scope

Requires Blender 5.0 or newer. Tested on Windows with Blender 5.0.1 and Blender 5.2.2 LTS, including installation from the actual extension ZIP, import/export round trips and failure recovery. Other operating systems and Blender versions have not been verified.

This release is intended for static asset batches. It does not automatically combine a multi-object assembly or a rig and its skinned mesh into one dependency-complete asset. Blender-only procedural shaders are not baked into textures. Image sequences, UDIM workflows and full character-animation pipelines are not validated. Engine-named presets are starting points; Unity, Unreal and Godot were not tested directly.

Scatter exports objects; it does not scatter geometry across surfaces.
