Storyboard Lite turns Blender into a lightweight storyboarding and previz workspace. Lay out your shots as visual panels on an interactive GPU timeline, work in 2D or 3D, duplicate shots and keep shared elements in sync. No round-trips to another app, no exporting, no subscription.

What you get

🎬 Visual storyboard timeline — a smooth GPU-drawn board with zoom, scroll and drag. Every panel is a real Blender scene: a coloured card with its thumbnail, status and camera. Works in Object Mode and Grease Pencil draw mode, so you can sketch a 2D panel and jump between shots at the same time.

✏️ 2D and 3D panels — 3D scenes with a perspective camera, or 2D drawing panels with a front-ortho camera + Grease Pencil. Mix them freely on the same board.

🧩 Parent → child sync + object manager — duplicate a panel and keep the children in sync. New objects in a child stay local until you deliberately push them to the parent. Full manager with shared / local / detached / hidden states, precise delete scopes and batch actions.

🗂 Scene & panel management — new panel, insert left/right of the current shot, new scenes, reorder panels, move them between scenes. All by dragging.

📚 Template library — save any scene as a template, then Use / Replace / Delete it in one click.

🎨 Statuses, colours, playback — set production status and clip colour directly on the timeline, then play the whole board back as an animatic.

🛠 One-click toolbar switch — a dedicated Storyboard tool in the left toolbar toggles the timeline on and off; switching to Move/Rotate never hides your board.

Installation

1. Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → Install…

2. Select the .zip and enable Storyboard Lite

3. Open the Storyboard tab in the 3D viewport sidebar (press N)
