Strandkit | The Hair, Fur & Dynamics Library
When setting the scalp object, nothing happens. Why?
Currently it's set up to work with the default Blender UV naming. Which is "UVMap". Please try to rename your UV map to that. If you don't have a UV map, that's probably the problem!
Can StrandKit haircards be exported for Game Engines?
StrandKit includes a hair cards scattering setup. This will generate cards from your curves. The only additional steps are converting it to a mesh and converting the attribute to a UV map. This is explained in the documentation section.
Do I need to know Geometry Nodes to use StrandKit?
No β all the Geometry Nodes setups are pre-built and designed to be adjustable via simple modifiers and exposed parameters. You do not need advanced GN knowledge to use the library.
The hair looks wrong if I add it to my own object, why?
The short answer is probably the scale of your object. Don't worry though, with the "Scale By Reference Object" setting, you can easily set the scaling to match your own object. This is explained at the top of the documentation page.
Is there support or documentation included?
Yes β I include documentation and video tutorials to help you get started. You can also reach out directly if you have questions or run into issues. I'm very quick with my responses :)
Can I modify the StrandKit node setups for my own use?
Yes β once purchased, you can fully customize the node groups for your own projects. You just cannot resell modified versions of StrandKit itself.
Does it work in Blender version 4.4?
StrandKit is fully built for Blender 4.4. Future updates will aim to support newer versions as Blender evolves.
Do I need any special add-ons or plugins?
No β everything runs natively inside Blender. No external plugins required.
Do I need a powerful PC to use StrandKit?
StrandKit includes adjustable spline resolution controls for performance tuning. You can lower the complexity while building, and generate full-res hair when ready. Many parts will work well even on mid-range systems. Additionally StrandKit works with a viewport density slider, which by default is set to 10%. This will help with performance right from the start and together with the spline resolution, should be no issue.
Can I sell characters or creatures I groom using StrandKit?
Yes β as long as youβre selling your own characters, creatures, or assets where StrandKit was used as part of the creation process, thatβs perfectly allowed.
You just cannot sell or redistribute the StrandKit files, nodes, or card libraries separately.
Can I use StrandKit for commercial projects?
Yes β once you've groomed a character or created assets using StrandKit, you are free to use them in your personal or commercial projects (games, movies, VR, etc).
You may not resell or redistribute the raw assets, libraries, or StrandKit files themselves.
What if my PC can't handle it?
StrandKit includes built-in spline resolution controls at the top of the modifier. You can easily adjust complexity based on your machineβs performance β from low-end systems to high-end workstations. If it happens to crash when you set your scalp object, your scalp is most likely very complex topology-wise. In which case, a haircap would do the trick. A simplified version of your scalp shrink-wrapped to your original mesh.
