The Curl - Unfolding Spiral Setup in Geometry Nodes
This Geometry Nodes setup generates a procedural unfolding plant by seamlessly welding a straight base stem to a coiled spiral, while dynamically instancing leaves along the growing geometry. The core mechanism uses an unfolding input value—often driven by a control empty's location—to dynamically generate the spiral at the tip of the base curve. Because these are generated as two separate parts, the node tree converts them to a mesh, merges their points by distance, and turns them back into a single continuous curve. This unbroken indexing allows you to use a Float Curve node to organically taper the entire stem from root to tip, ensuring it can be textured seamlessly as one unified object. Finally, leaves are instanced along the curve and dynamically pushed outward based on the stem's local radius to prevent intersection.
