Can I reorganize panels from any third party addon or only yours?
Yes. The whole point is to take control of the N panel even when it is filled with tools from many different addons. You can rename and reorder panels so everything lands where you want it.
How does the mode based layout work?
You choose which panels should show up in each Blender mode. For example you can keep sculpt tools visible in Sculpt mode, modeling tools in Edit mode, and hide everything else. When you switch modes the sidebar updates so only the relevant stuff stays in front of you.
Will this break my addons or change how they work?
No. It does not change what addons do, it just changes how their panels are organized and displayed in the N panel. Your tools keep working the same, they just become easier to find.
Can I move my setup to a new Blender version or another computer?
Yes. You can export your layout and import it again later. That makes it easy to keep your N panel setup consistent when you upgrade Blender or reinstall your system.
