Is it safe?

Everything comes from download.blender.org over HTTPS. Every download is checked against the SHA-256 checksum blender.org publishes, and the installer must be signed by the Blender Foundation. Upshift never runs anything with administrator rights itself.

What if an install fails?

Your current Blender starts again unchanged, and that version is not tried again without asking you first.

Does it send anything about me?

No. It only contacts download.blender.org for release listings, checksums and the installer.

Can I stop the automatic installs?

Yes. In Preferences > Add-ons > Upshift, switch off Install Bug-Fix Releases Automatically, and bug-fix releases ask first like new versions.

Which Blender installs does it work with?

The Windows installer (.msi, the default download) and ZIP or portable builds.

Can I use it commercially?

Yes. It is GPL with source included.
