Wallpaper Groups
Is this an add-on, and which Blender version does it support?
Wallpaper Groups is a Geometry Nodes asset setup, tested in Blender 5.2 LTS. No add-on installation or runtime script is required. Add the supplied folder as an Asset Library, or append an object from the Blender file. Compatibility with other Blender versions has not been verified.
Do I need to understand symmetry mathematics or build node graphs?
You can start by choosing a preset or motif and adjusting the exposed modifier controls. You do not need to build a node graph or learn the mathematics first. The included user guide and illustrated 17-group reference explain the controls and help you compare arrangements.
Are the six presets editable?
Yes. Each preset contains a live Geometry Nodes setup. Change its settings, edit the motif or replace it with your own. The generator and all six presets are included as object assets in one Blender file, with the required image textures packed.
Can I use the patterns on packaging or curved objects?
Yes. Create the pattern, bake it to a texture in Blender, then map that texture onto your model. Baking and UV mapping are separate steps; Wallpaper Groups does not automatically wrap the pattern around a surface. The packaging models shown in the presentation are not included.
Can I use my own images, curves and 3D objects?
Yes. Use a mesh or curve as the motif, or place an image on a textured plane and use that plane. The repetition is arranged on a plane, but the motif can keep its depth, so you can create both flat artwork and dimensional patterns.
Does ‘all 17 wallpaper groups’ mean only 17 designs?
No. Each group is a way of arranging a motif, not a fixed design. Changing the motif, its placement and the spacing creates different results. The 17 groups cover all symmetry types for patterns that repeat across a plane in two independent directions. Radial arrangements and nonperiodic patterns fall outside that scope.
