Blender Essentials: Transform and Gizmo Basics
|
Getting Started Install Blender 5 or later from blender.org before starting Lesson 1. Blender is free. If you haven't completed the first course in this series (Stop Getting Lost in the Viewport), it's worth doing that first - basic navigation will make it much easier to follow along here. Free Practice Asset Pack Lesson 1 references a free practice asset pack - a post-apocalyptic modular kit included with this course. Download it from the Content tab and unzip it to a location you can find easily. Open the included .blend file to access the practice scene used throughout the lessons. How the Course Is Structured 17 lessons, grouped into logical sections: - Lessons 1 - 5: Move, Rotate, Scale tools and the combined Transform gizmo - Lessons 6 - 7: Object origins and Affect Only Origins - Lessons 8 - 10: Exact values, Dimensions, and Ctrl+A Apply Transforms - Lessons 11 - 13: Transform orientations and pivot points - Lessons 14 - 15: G/R/S shortcut workflow and scene cleanup - Lessons 16 - 17: Troubleshooting - fixing origins, scale, Mirror Modifier, and parenting Work through the lessons in order. Each one builds on the previous. Tips Try every operation in Blender as you watch - don't just observe. The moment something clicks physically is usually the moment it sticks.
