Layerify
Updating: remove the old version first (Edit > Preferences > Add-ons), restart Blender, then install the zip for your system. 1.1 has a new engine, and Blender only loads it on a fresh start. Your layers and settings are kept.
Finish your renders
- Edit Render: open a render in layers, exactly as the Render window shows it, every render pass included
- Camera Raw filter, as a smart filter: Basic, Presence, Curve, Color Mixer, Grading, Detail and Effects
- Update from Render: change the scene, render again, and every edit stays
- Click an object to mask it (Cryptomatte); the mask follows it in later renders
- Export panel: PNG, JPEG, WebP, TIFF and EXR, with all their settings
Paint on the model
- Paint with Blender's Texture Paint while Layerify is open: every stroke lands in a layer, soft edges kept, one Ctrl+Z each
- New Texture Paint Layer and Texture Paint Goes Here: give rust, dirt and highlights their own layers
UV tools
- The UV layout over the image: islands shaded, overlaps and flipped faces found
- Select UV Island on the image or right on the model; the cursor marks the same spot on model and texture
- UV padding and an island ID map layer
Adjustments, upgraded
- Hue / Saturation edits one color range, with eyedroppers and the hand tool
- Black & White presets and Auto; Levels per channel over a histogram; your own LUTs; Gradient Map stops edited on the bar
Workflow
- Your own keyboard shortcuts for any tool or menu command
- Symmetry for every brush: radial, mandala, or your own mirror lines
- Hold Ctrl to erase or Shift to smooth while painting; Copy Merged (Ctrl+Shift+C)
- Image Size and Canvas Size panels; double-click a slider to type its value
- Blend modes previewed as you hover them
- Two new themes: Studio Grey and Studio Charcoal
Plus many fixes and speed-ups.
First release. Layered image editing, as in Photoshop, inside Blender's Image Editor: Blender 4.2 LTS to 5.x on Windows, Linux and macOS (Apple Silicon; Intel Macs with Blender 4.2 to 4.5).
Layers and editing
- Layers: pixel, adjustment, fill, text and shape layers, groups and smart objects; 27 blend modes, opacity and fill, clipping masks
- Layer masks: paint, fill or filter them, view one on its own, load one as a selection
- 16 adjustment layers, Levels and Curves among them, and Color, Gradient and Pattern Fill layers, all editable later
- Selections: Rectangle, Ellipse, Lasso and Magic Wand; grow, shrink, feather, smooth, border; Color Range
- Move and Free Transform, with perspective; the Crop tool
- Copy and paste, with other programs too: an image copied in a browser pastes as a layer
Painting and retouching
- Brush, Pencil and Eraser with pen pressure; a Brush panel with presets and stroke previews
- Your Photoshop brushes: import .abr files once and use them in every project
- Healing Brush, Spot Healing and Clone Stamp with a live preview; History Brush
- Blur, Sharpen, Smudge, Dodge, Burn and Sponge; Gradient and Paint Bucket
Filters, styles, text and shapes
- About 50 filters, kept editable as smart filters with their own masks
- Layer styles: Drop Shadow, Stroke, Bevel & Emboss, glows, overlays and more, with presets
- Text in any installed font and any language, with warps, kept editable
- Shapes: rectangles, ellipses, polygons, stars, lines and 34 custom shapes, as vector layers
For textures
- Make Tileable, a Tiling Preview to paint across the seams, Height to Normal and other texture filters
- Channels: view or paint R, G, B or A alone
- Channel Packer: pack maps into one image's channels (ORM and more), unpack them, export texture sets for game engines
- UV layout over the canvas, UDIM tiles, and linked maps that follow the color map's crops and resizes
- 8K textures stay responsive
Inside Blender
- Live update: your model follows every edit; Apply writes the result into the image
- Layers saved as PSD: open and save Photoshop files with their layers, masks, styles, text and smart objects
- Drag and drop images onto the canvas as layers
- Crash recovery, and a choice when the image changed outside Layerify
- Photoshop's shortcuts (Cmd on a Mac) and a searchable shortcut sheet (? or F1)
- Move and resize the panels, themes, and an accent color of your own
