Do I need to bake anything?
No. Add Trail records the motion once, usually in under a second. Then any frame is right, even one you jump straight to.
Does it work on a rigged character?
Yes. Select a bone in Pose Mode, or a few vertices on the hand, for a trail from that spot. Select the whole body and you get ghosts.
Which Blender and which render engine?
Blender 4.5, 5.1 and 5.2, in Cycles and EEVEE. Trails lighting up the floor and what is around them is Cycles only.
Will the file render without the add-on?
Yes. The trail carries its own motion, so a render farm or another computer renders it the same.
I changed the animation. Do I have to make the trail again?
No. It records again by itself a moment after you stop editing. A long record waits for you to press Re-record.
Can I use my own material or my own particles?
Yes. Put any material in the trail's Material slot, and use any object or collection as the particles.
