Machin3 is one of my favorite Blender developers. Constantly improving workflows, and developing new tools to make Blender one of the best modeling packages there is. If you like what you see here, then definitely check out MESHmachine and DECALmachine. My only complaint is that I don't know Python well enough at the moment to help contribute.

Thank you Mike, that is awesome. As for python, I got my start editing wazous pie's not even 3 years ago. You can do it too, and it will be liberating.

Unfortunate that we have to pay for Blender 5 support, but definitely understandable considering it's a single person operation.

The addon itself is very helpful though! It's getting a bit "bloated" with features, but just because I'm not using every one of them does not mean they are not useful to some people.

Way back were the addon was free on gumroad I still decided to buy it on blendermarket just to respect the dev. at a minimum. Now after a while I wanted to download the new version and saw its not possible anymore. Even if I think it is more worth then the dime that days. I'm a bit disappointed now. Over this I also bought MeshMachine and DecalMachine which were one of the more expensive addons but they didn't got the love like this one in updates. I was expecting some day machin3tools may be a part of meshmachine while the majority of features fit into it. I think if one bought the big bundle it would be better to let him machin3tools insteat "if you had payed 3.5 at gumroad".

Beside this I think prices for addons are running out of controll (In general... not just this one). Mine are in total now more then a complete tool like Plasticity which with I could do most of the stuff better then with addons for blender. I m just hobbyist but I think this addon market as is will not be good for blender. People will switch to payed tools if they get more for the money.

not polite in communication, never again

Asked a qestion, pointed him to a specific page in the documentation within 8 minutes of his message, which explained exactly what he needed to know.
Instead of reading that, he just repeated his initial question, copy and pasted it actually, including the typos.
Told him the link contains all the info he needs, and asked if anything is unclear. Not waiting for a response I followed up with a second message telling him exactly what's also explained in the docs.
He responded "be polite next time". I responded "Don't be lazy next time".
The only impoliteness here, was him not respecting my time and expecting me to spoon feed him everything.

This the fast and efficient, no-nonsense product support you can expect from me.

You bought MACHIN3tools 1.0.1 in early 2022 for $10 or less. Years later you left a two-sentence "review" that is not a product review at all: It is you being mad that free updates are not infinite. One star, no substance, just a tantrum posted where other buyers will see it, trying to cause maximum harm to my brand and product. That is abuse of the review system. It is a fat kid screaming because the free ice cream stopped.

What you actually bought was a specific version of a specific product. That version still works with the Blender it was made for. You can keep using it forever. That is the purchase. Everything after that was optional.

And you still got a lot of optional for free. Never promised, never part of the original sale:

      2022-04-24 - 1.0.2
      2022-09-10 - 1.1
      2022-09-12 - 1.1.1
      2022-11-26 - 1.2
      2023-01-01 - 1.3
      2023-04-18 - 1.4
      2023-04-19 - 1.4.1
      2023-06-27 - 1.5
      2023-11-10 - 1.6
      2024-02-10 - 1.7
      2024-03-22 - 1.8
      2024-05-23 - 1.9
      2024-08-01 - 1.10
      2024-08-05 - 1.10.1
      2024-11-09 - 1.11
      2024-11-25 - 1.11.1

That is nearly three years of free updates after a ten-dollar buy. Blender is breaking addons so frequently it's a meme. Keeping software alive across that churn is real work. I went far past merely ensuring compatibility. Most of the above were feature updates, and they got bigger, as time went on. I kept cramming more new tools into the addon, new workflows. Stacked on top of keeping the old ones alive.

You never once left a thank you. Not a comment, not a note, nothing. Silence while the free gravy train ran. The second it slowed, you showed up with a one-star tantrum like I personally owed you my next decade of labor because you once sent ten bucks.

You do not. A past purchase is not a lifetime claim on someone else's work. Treating it like one is not a principle, it is entitlement with a receipt waved around as moral authority. That is what is wrong with parts of this community: people who take free labor for granted, contribute nothing back, and rate the product one star the moment they are asked to pay a tiny fee to ensure sustainability.

This is my fifth attempt at leaving a review.

The add-on is terrible, it hasn't started up since I upgraded to Blender 5.0.

I talked to the creator about a potential fix. The creator denied my idea, so my purchase is now useless.
    Thanks!

Rarely have i seen such entitlement and petty behavior as yours. You have received 50+ free updates from me across the years, for my various addons, without this ever having been a promise. In your previous 4 1 star ratings you said the addon is great, and you certainly have found it over the past years.

They ratings were removed as they violated Superhive's guides. You didn't rate the addon at all, you explicitly and exclusively left a 1 star rating because I stopped supplying indefinite free updates, which I have warned about for years may happen as it's not sustainable, especially for MACHIN3tools which started out as a free addon, but grew to become my biggest addon, requiring the most work.

That's all the issue you had. No more free updates. You want me to work for free for you indefinitely because of a $10 purchase you made many years ago. You said how "you miss the days that you could just buy something and you just own it." But you do! I didn't take away your purchase. You do own the version you originally bought as much as one can own GPL software. Importantly you can use it as much and for as long as you want. It's fully functional with the Blender versions it was built against, which run just as well today as they ran then. On top of that you got a dozen or so free updates just for MACHIN3tools, these too still work with the Blender versions they support, and will continue to do so indefinitely.
I don't force you to update Blender. You you chose to update to a new Blender 5.1, means you chose to update to a new Blender API, which means you chose to accept that addons break. And mine did with 5.1. Not because the addons did anything wrong, but because Blender's API changed. These breaks require work to fix. Work that you, nor anybody are not entitled to for free.

An overrated blender addon that adds very little to the blender experience. Save your money and just use the program as normal.

This guy buys every addon I make, got a hundred or so updates for free for DECALmachine, MESHmachine, and MACHIN3tools over the years. Buys PUNCHit and CURVEmachine yesterday too, then leaves a 1 star MACHIN3tools rating after buying the Update at discount, and then talks shit about it.

It's fine to charge for future updates, but the fact that I no longer have access to the old file that I already paid for - why do this? What's the logic behind it? I just want to download the old file, if it doesn't work for me then that's my problem. You just want to force me to pay, not cool.

    • MACHIN3

That's a lie, everyone still has access to their purchased version, as shown and explained here: https://machin3.io/MACHIN3tools/docs/faq/#how-do-paid-updates-work

  • Barnabás Nagy

This addon will not receive any more updates, even if you purchased the DeusEx version, unless you pay again for future updates. So, for those who paid for the DeusEx version, the addon will likely become unusable in future versions of Blender.

    • MACHIN3

That is correct. You have bought MACHIN3tools 0.8.0 in 2021 for $10. Since then you have received the following updates for free - many of these where massive feature updates expanding the addon's capabilities, see https://machin3.io/MACHIN3tools/docs/whatsnew/#09 and scroll all the way up
      - 1.11.1
      - 1.11
      - 1.10.1
      - 1.10
      - 1.9
      - 1.8
      - 1.7
      - 1.6
      - 1.5
      - 1.4.1
      - 1.4
      - 1.3
      - 1.2
      - 1.1.1
      - 1.1
      - 1.0.2
      - 1.0.1
      - 1.0
      - 0.10.0
      - 0.9.0

Indefinite free updates where never a promise, but I did it while I could afford to. I go into more detail about it all here: https://machin3.io/MACHIN3tools/docs/faq/#why-arent-updates-free

If I don't end a failing business practice, then I'll be out of business and there won't be any update for anybody anymore.

Why do you feel entitled to my continued work for free?
Why do you now feel the need to 1 start rate a product you clearly enjoyed using for 4 years?

Outrageous, I charge for my continuous work! How dare I!

The video tutorial is very out of date and hard to watch, I would expect better learning resources from a paid tool, especially one that messes with blender in the way this does. It is unusable for me.
