I've got into this addon even before the tutorials were released and I must say that everything was very intuitive and easy to use. As someone with little experience on texturing it was very easy to do something cool, and I absolutely recommend this addon for anyone like me getting into texturing.

I'm giving this a tentative 5 stars because I think the few initial bugs will be quickly fixed and the developers already have plans to improve it. If you've looked at Substance Painter and gone, 'nah, too expensive' (well, join the gang), this is a really solid alternative. Improvements to Blender itself can only make this better in the future – and it's pretty good already. I will also echo that the map baking (AO, curvature etc) and texture export is impressive. I'm running on macOS and no major performance issues so far, even with multiple 4K layers. Top work from B3FX Studios!

Having only used this plugin for a day, this has got to be the most well polished texture making experience I've had in Blender. From the layer system to the robust and fast exporting of textures for games. I still have a lot to learn about the addon, but am already satisfied.

Great for a day 1 launch, It rivals ucupaint in terms of features to price, which is impressive for a day 1 launch. I hope that this addon will develop a better paint projection system for blender because the current one is still the default. For further clarification, I would like texture painting to wrap around the model in the viewport. Other than that, I trust that this will become a great addon in the future.

I think that this is a 5 star addon but its missing acess to texture interpolation type that is acessible without going into nodes (linear, cubic, closes, etc) , so when I try texture low-fidelity (pixel art) characters it takes up a lot of time to change the interplation for each texture and mask; I am forced to dig around in the node trees which get large when you have complex projects. I would appreciate if you guys added a texture interpolation option when creating a mask or texture.

MatPlus gave me great first impressions with an interface inspired by Substance Painter. It has layer stacks, blend modes, groups and even a 2D|3D view via geometry nodes. On paper, it's ambitious and looks like a full-featured texture painting tool inside Blender. Unfortunately, through extensive testing I found version 1.0 is unstable. Layer grouping triggers errors, switching views bugs out, and Blender crashes when layers move in paint mode. I suspect much of these are limitations due to Blender's underlying texture painting tools lacking.

I'm giving 4 stars because I understand this is version 1.0 (though I did pay full price). I update my reviews periodically as further features and updates are released.

TL;DR: Great start; Still buggy but usable at 1.0.1; would recommend

Mat Plus offers a strong layer-based workflow for developing materials. It includes an easy-to-use baking system, a wide range of materials and masks, and exports cleanly to PBR. I did encounter some issues with the baking process and the overall user experience in v1.0.1. While there are a few tutorials available, the lack of comprehensive documentation makes onboarding harder. Looking at Substance Painter workflows can help fill in the gaps.

Overall, I still recommend the product. It shows a lot of promise but is clearly in the early stages. I hope to see improvements in future updates, and I will update my review and rating as it evolves.

Cool GUI, many great features. But it is really buggy. The model turns black all the time. I have weird texture glitches. Importing a PBR texture set is cumbersome - you need to add them all one by one. You also cannot tile a PBR texture set - you have to scale them all one by one. It slows me down so much that it is much faster for me to stay with the node editor. I respect your work behind this, but in its current state, it is not usable for me.
