Modeling Toolkit - Documentation

Installation

  1. Download mk_modeling_toolkit_1.0.0.zip (do not unzip it).
  2. In Blender go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, open the dropdown at the top right and pick Install from Disk.
  3. Select the zip and enable Modeling Toolkit.
  4. In the 3D Viewport press N and open the Modeling Toolkit tab. The tool card opens in the viewport.

Built and tested on Blender 5.1.

The Card

Everything lives in one card with four sections: Splines, Modify, SDF and Cut. Hold the mouse over any button to see an animated explainer of what it does. The explainers are available in English, Korean and Japanese (EN / KO / JA at the top of the card). Each section also has its own video tutorials right under its tab.

Splines

  • 3ds Max style shapes: Line, Rectangle, Circle, Ellipse, Arc, Donut, NGon, Star, Text, Helix, Egg, Section and Freehand, with the same parameters as Max.
  • AutoGrid draws directly on the surface of other models. Snaps, symmetry and keyboard entry are included.
  • Edit Spline: Vertex, Segment and Spline levels with vertex types (Corner, Smooth, Bezier, Bezier Corner).

Modify

  • Extrude, Lathe, Sweep, Array, Section, FFD Box and Conform tools turn shapes into models. Every modifier stays editable.

SDF

  • Build soft models from SDF shapes, like clay. Add, subtract and blend shapes with live settings.
  • Blend selected meshes and their materials into one model.
  • Weld adds a procedural weld bead along the seam with heat marks around it. The parts' own meshes are never changed.
  • Cut with Line: cut a groove into the model along a spline.

Cut

  • Draw a Rectangle, Circle, Ngon or any spline to Cut, Join, Slice, Intersect or Panel a model.
  • Cut edges can be Sharp, Fillet or Chamfer. Use Model's Bevel makes one cut match the model's own Bevel.
  • Copy a cutter with Shift+D and it becomes a new cut. Move, rotate or scale cutters at any time and the cut follows.
  • Show Cutters / Only Selected Model keeps the scene clean.
  • Apply Selected / Apply All turns the models into plain meshes, exactly as they look.
