Motionlab – Physics & Motion Analysis For Blender
How do I install MotionLab?
In Blender 4.5 or later, open Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions, choose Install from Disk, select motionlab-1.0.0-windows-x64.zip, and enable MotionLab.
Does MotionLab require an internet connection or account?
No. Normal recording, analysis, graphing, Session loading, and export are performed locally in Blender without an account or internet connection.
Does MotionLab modify my simulation or physics cache?
MotionLab evaluates the Scene while recording, but Physics Preflight does not change simulation settings, cache ranges, or bake status.
Does loading a Session recreate my Blender objects?
No. Loading a Session restores its analytical data and graph catalog for review. It does not create, reposition, or animate the original Blender objects.
What files does MotionLab export?
A completed Session contains a manifest, summary CSV, object metadata, frame-by-frame transform samples, derived analysis data, and Event data. The exported information is stored in JSON and CSV-based structures.
Can I compare multiple objects?
Yes. A Session can contain multiple selected objects, and MotionLab can display equivalent measurements from several recorded objects in the same graph.
Which measurements are available?
MotionLab provides Speed, Acceleration, Angular Velocity, Momentum, Kinetic Energy, Potential Energy, and Total Energy.
Can MotionLab analyze ordinary keyframed animation?
Yes. MotionLab can record and analyze evaluated object transforms from regular keyframed animation as well as Rigid Body simulations.
Does MotionLab work with Rigid Body simulations?
Yes. MotionLab records evaluated Rigid Body motion. Physics Preflight reports possible cache or frame-coverage problems, and Physics Pre-roll can evaluate earlier frames before recording begins.
Which Blender versions are supported?
MotionLab 1.0.0 supports Blender 4.5 or later on Windows x64. It has been tested with Blender 4.5 LTS and Blender 5.0.
