NoMicro Studio in Rigging

The spider: 5 new clips, 15 in all

Clean: lifts a front leg to its fangs and pulls it through them three times, first the left, then the right, the body leaning a little to that side

Lurk: flat to the ground with the legs spread wide, still; now and then a front leg lifts and feels for a vibration

Tap: drums the ground with the front two pairs of legs, quick taps left and right, the abdomen bobbing

Back: backs away with short steps, the front of the body up and the front legs raised to ward off, the fangs open; the root goes backwards

Wrap: stands tall over its prey, turns the bundle with the front legs, the abdomen tipped down to it and the hind legs taking turns to draw the silk off the spinnerets

The dinosaur: 4 new clips, 16 in all, a new death and a heavier stomp

Death: struck, it throws the head up roaring, staggers a step to catch the weight, the knees buckle and it crashes onto its side with a bounce, the tail slapping the ground; a last breath, the jaw goes slack

Stomp: the foot lifts slowly and slams down fast, and the head, the body and the tail jolt at the moment the foot hits the ground

Charge: runs at the prey with the head low and forward, the jaws open, the body leaning in; the root goes forward

Feed: dips the head to the prey on the ground, bites, rips a piece off with a jerk back, shakes it and swallows

Alert: lifts the head high, scans left and right, sniffs the air with a short snort

TailSwipe: the body coils to one side and the tail whips round

The pig: LieDown, Death, TurnLeft and TurnRight reworked, and 10 new clips, 23 in all

LieDown: sniffs the ground, kneels on the forelegs, then the hindquarters go down; rests on its chest a moment and flops over onto its side, the legs stretched out, the upper pair over the lower one. Before, the forelegs reached out in front like a dog's

Sleep: lies on its side as LieDown ends, breathing, a leg twitching in a dream once a loop

Death: the legs give, it drops and rolls onto its side, the legs kick out a few times and go still. Before, it rolled onto its back with the legs in the air

TurnLeft and TurnRight: walks round on the spot in small steps, the forehand travelling further than the hindquarters, the curly tail flicking. Before, the body turned in one piece and the legs crossed

New clips: Gallop; Root (the snout down in the earth, four shoves forward and a toss); StandUp (from lying on its side: rolls onto its chest, the front up, then the rear); RunAway (startles, wheels round and bolts off at a gallop); Wallow (lies down, rolls onto its back and wriggles in the mud, gets up and shakes); Scratch (rubs its side on a post); Squeal; Charge (head down, rocks back, lunges and hooks the snout up); Jump (over a low obstacle); Back (backs up, the root goes backwards)

The apes (gorilla, chimpanzee, orangutan): Death, Jump and Sleep reworked, after photos of real gorillas

Death: the blow throws the head back, the arms give and the ape falls onto its chest and face in one movement that speeds up to the floor, bounces, the head whipping down on the impact. It lies flat with the legs bent frog-like, the soles up by the rump, one arm stretched out by the head, the other along the body palm up, the head on its side. Before, the body turned onto its side in one piece and ended curled up like in Sleep

Jump: crouches, pushes off all fours, flies on a real arc with the arms folded up and forward, lands hands first and absorbs it. Before, the body rose and fell in one piece with the arms hanging

Sleep: lies on the floor on its right side, the head resting on the lower arm stretched out in front, the top arm hanging down before the chest, the legs loosely bent one on the other; the chest rises and falls with the breath and once a loop the ape stirs. Before, the body floated above the floor and only the breathing moved

Lying on the floor: the body lies flat along it instead of rolling about a tilted axis, hands lie flat instead of standing on the knuckles, elbows and knees always bend their natural way, and the orangutan's long arms no longer fold into the floor

The horse, reworked against a real one: its gaits, speeds and clips, on the same default Rigify horse rig

Gaits at real speeds: Walk 1.4 m/s in four beats, the head nodding as each forehoof lands; Trot 3.7 m/s in diagonal pairs with a moment in the air, the head quiet; Gallop 10 m/s in four beats and a gathered moment in the air. The back stays nearly stiff, as in a horse, instead of flexing like a cheetah's. Before, the horse walked at 0.66 m/s

New clip Canter: 5 m/s, three beats, the front rising over the hind legs and dropping onto the forelegs

Idle: rests one hind leg on the toe of the hoof with that hip dropped, the head lower, the tail swatting flies

Graze: steps one forehoof out, the neck goes down to the grass, tears and chews

TurnLeft and TurnRight: the horse walks round on the spot as a real one does - eight steps in the footfall order of its walk (the inner foreleg first, after each foreleg the opposite hind one), the forehand travelling round further than the hindquarters, never more than two hooves off the ground; the body turns exactly as far as the hooves have stepped, dips with each forehoof like in the walk, the head looks round and the neck and body bend after it. Before, each leg made one long sliding step and the legs crossed

Death: the knees buckle with the hooves on the ground, the horse sinks, rolls onto its right side and lies with the legs out on the ground, the upper pair resting over the lower one, the neck on the ground. Before, it fell with the legs drawn up, and lying, they stuck out level in the air

Nine new clips, 23 in all: Jump (gathers, the forehand lifts, the back rounds over the fence, lands on the forelegs), Buck (head down, the croup up, both hind legs kick out), Kick (looks back, cocks one hind leg and lashes it out), Paw (strikes and drags the ground with a forehoof), Back (backs up in diagonal pairs, the root goes backwards), StandUp (from lying: the forelegs reach out, then the heave from the hindquarters), Roll (lies down, rolls onto its back and wriggles, stands up and shakes), Nicker (head up, calls out in bursts, the flanks shaking), Drink (the forelegs step apart, the nose down to the water, slow gulps)

LieDown and Sleep: sniffs the ground, kneels on the forelegs with the head up, then the hindquarters go down; lies on its chest with the forelegs folded under at the knee and the hind legs tucked to one side. Before, the legs stretched out front and back like a dog's

Clips follow the add-on: after you update Moveset Animals, the clips of the animals in your file are rebuilt by themselves when you open it (or right away, if it is open), with their settings, and clips new to the animal are added. Clips whose keys you edited by hand are left alone, and the panel lists them with an Update Edited Clips button; Rebuild Animations still rebuilds everything

The snake, reworked: it now crawls like a real one, has twice as many clips and as many vertebrae as you want

Segments: choose how many vertebrae the snake gets before you create it, from 6 for a light game rig to 64 for a smooth body. Every clip works with any count

Slither and SlitherFast: the whole body slides along one track on the ground, every part passing where the head was, so nothing skids sideways. The clips now have a real speed, and the export moves the root by exactly the distance the snake crawls. Before, the body waved in place on a sine curve and the root stood still

Wave length and Wave width (the Stride and Lift sliders of a snake): longer waves crawl faster, wider ones slower, and the speed follows

The raised neck is a smooth curve, not a bend at one joint, and the head stays level over it. The tongue flicks in short bursts

Coil and Sleep lie in two or three loops side by side, centred on the animal, not in one wide ring. In Coil and Rattle the neck rises steeply from the middle of the coil and bends forward like a question mark, the head level and looking ahead; before, it ran low across the loops and through them. Hiss rears up tall like a cobra over a loose coil, the head carried forward, and only the raised neck leans in and back - the coil no longer slides on the floor. Strike folds the front into a tight S and lunges out of it

Guide and Changelog buttons at the bottom of the panel open the add-on's pages on moveset3d.com; the site is also linked in the add-on's info in Preferences

New clips: Creep (slow and low), Sidewind (across the way it goes, loops lifting off the ground), Swim (head up, the tail sculls wider), TurnLeft and TurnRight (the head swings round first, the body follows), Rattle (coiled, the tail tip up and buzzing), Taste (low, tasting the air), Yawn, Swallow (gulps, then a lump runs down the body). Hit and Death are new too: it flinches into an S without sliding back, and in death it writhes, then rolls belly up. 18 clips instead of 9

1.0.3

Death (dragon): the dragon jolts and flares its wings, then slumps onto its chest; the feet stay on the floor and slide out from under the body, the neck and head lie down on the floor, the wings sag half open beside the body and the tail lies on the ground. Before, it sank straight down on its belly with the legs drawn up into the body, the head held up and the tail tip lifted

1.0.2

ChestBeat (gorilla): the fists now land on the chest on both sides, one after the other, with the elbows out, and no longer sink into the body. Before, the hands hung at the sides or reached out in front of the chest. The fists land on the upper chest, not the belly, the head looks forward instead of hanging onto the chest, the body surges up into the display, jolts on each slap and drops back onto the knuckles with weight

The head is one bone on every animal: no jaw, ears, nose, horns, beak, tongue or face bones, no facial rig. The lower jaw, tongue and fangs are gone with their bones, the ears, horns, muzzle and beak stay as wooden parts of the head, the clips move the body and the head only. The wolf has 98 bones instead of 190, the cat 82 instead of 174

Box (kangaroo) is a fast kangaroo kick: it rises with the tail on the ground and grabs the rival, draws both knees up to the chest, kicks forward with the soles of both feet, recoils back onto the tail from the hit and lands with the knees giving; the knees no longer flip backwards as the legs draw up. The tail stays on the ground the whole clip

New tools for your own model and your own skeleton

Your own model: a pose made for binding for eight animals (the apes in an A-pose with palms down and fingers apart, the kangaroo upright on straight legs, the octopus with its arms in an even star, the spider with its legs spread evenly, the dinosaur and the dragon with a straight tail and neck). Show Model Pose shows it on the wooden body, Model stands chooses between it and the animal's own stance, the original model stays hidden as <name>_original

Check Model lists what breaks automatic weights (unapplied scale and rotation, doubled and loose vertices, holes, a model turned sideways), Test Motion plays a walk and the idle on the bound model and counts the torn edges

Your own skeleton: if the selected armature is not one of ours, Map Bones lists the main bones of the animal and matches them with your bones by name, you correct the table, Retarget Animations writes the clips as actions on your skeleton. Your mesh and its weights are not touched

ChestBeat (gorilla): the fists follow the forearms
