Blender 5.0+ Add-on
Mycel
Batch rename everything, colour-code your collections, save visibility states, and fix duplicate names — all from a single N-panel.
How it works
Open the Organizer tab in the N-panel and every scene-management tool is one click away. Rename hundreds of objects, meshes, materials or bones at once with Find/Replace, Prefix/Suffix, Sequential or Regex modes. Tag your collections with colours, isolate what you need in the viewport, and save visibility snapshots you can reload any time. A single Undo step brings everything back if you change your mind — your scene data stays intact, and nothing is written outside the .blend file.
What you get

Rename modes at a glance
| Mode | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Find / Replace | Cleaning up imports | Substring matching with an optional case-sensitive toggle. Type a pattern, type the replacement, apply to every matching name in the chosen scope. |
| Prefix / Suffix | Engine-ready naming | Add SM_, _lod0, or any prefix/suffix the target pipeline expects. Applied in-place, leaves the rest of each name untouched. |
| Sequential | Numbered batches | Renames every item to Base_001, Base_002, … using the base string and start index you set. Order follows the Outliner. |
| Regex | Power users | Full Python regular expressions with capture groups. Write the match, write the replacement template with \1 \2 backreferences, and reorganise naming conventions in one pass. |
Scene States — visibility snapshots that survive restarts
Save the current state of collection visibility under a name, reload it any time, share it with your scene when you send the .blend — your setups travel with the file.
| USE CASE Lighting vs. blocking Save a "Blocking" state with only proxies visible and a "Lighting" state with the full scene. Jump between them with a single click. | USE CASE Per-shot overrides Keep one named state per shot in a sequence and recall them as you work — no re-toggling collections every time you switch. |
| USE CASE Render vs. viewport Snapshot a clean "Render" layout and a performance-friendly "Viewport" layout. Swap when you need to preview or publish. | USE CASE Client walk-throughs Ship the .blend with a few named states — the client opens the file and reloads any layout instantly without touching the Outliner. |
Who is this for?
| Game artists preparing assets for Unity or Unreal that require strict naming conventions |
| Arch viz and product viz artists juggling dozens of collections and lighting variants per scene |
| Character and prop modellers inheriting messy imports from other DCC tools |
| Studios that need every .blend handed over to have clean, predictable data |
| Anyone who has ever renamed 200 objects by hand and promised themselves "never again" |
Frequently asked questions
QCan I undo a batch rename?
Yes. Every rename is registered as a single step in Blender's undo history — one press of Ctrl+Z reverts the entire batch.
QDoes it rename materials inside a linked library?
No. The add-on only touches data in the current scene. Linked library data is read-only and is skipped automatically.
QDoes renaming affect materials that are shared between objects?
Yes — just like renaming manually. If two objects share a material and you rename it, Blender updates both. The add-on also skips already-processed names within a single batch to avoid double-renaming.
QAre scene states saved with the .blend file?
Yes. States are stored as custom properties on the scene, so they persist with the .blend file and survive Blender restarts. They also travel with the file if you send it to a collaborator.
QWhat does Quick Isolate do exactly?
It hides every collection in the viewport except the one active in the Outliner. "Show All" restores full visibility. This is a viewport-only operation — render visibility is unchanged.
QWhich Blender version does it require?
Blender 5.0 and above. Compatible with Windows, macOS and Linux.
