Create reversible refractive camouflage in Cycles
Create a refractive camouflage effect through the Cycles compositor. Select a rig or mesh, apply a scene setup and choose a marked or soft invisible look. Remove Cloak / Restore Scene restores the saved setup state, including after saving and reopening the file.

What it does
- Builds dedicated background and wave-field view layers without renaming your existing layers.
- Uses a scene-specific optical material and compositor group, with drivers targeting that scene.
- Offers seven presets: Silhouette, Ripple, Balanced, Adaptive, Invisible, Marked and Soft. Balanced and Adaptive are experimental.
- Supports multiple subjects selected together for one scene setup.
- Provides fine controls for distortion, rim, feathering, shimmer, refraction spread and motion.
- Includes an explicit restore operation and rollback for tested setup failures.
Included demonstration content
The Forgotten Grove is a stylized stone path and forest ruin. Optical Field Lab is a reflective industrial chamber with luminous guide rails, panels and instruments. Both feature the original VEIL-01 scout, a weighted armor mesh, armature and a 48-frame planted-foot walk.
Each environment comes in ORIGINAL, CLOAK_ACTIVE and RESTORED variants: six editable .blend files in total. No external textures, HDRIs or asset downloads are required. The active examples use the normal addon compositor and do not depend on movie render caches.
Read before purchasing
Tested on Windows x64, Blender 5.2.0 LTS and Cycles, using GTX 1050 CUDA. Other patch releases, platforms and render engines have not been validated. The extension manifest accepts 5.2.x; tested compatibility is specifically 5.2.0.
This is a compositor-render effect. It is not a real-time viewport camouflage material. Linked, overridden and shared-scene subjects are rejected. Select the complete subject set before applying; restore before changing subjects or uninstalling. Hair, Geometry Nodes and complex transparency require additional testing. Keep the managed collections and view layers intact so they can be restored.
Preview accuracy
Gallery renders come from the included stylized environments. Hero stills are native 1920×1080 / 64 samples. Animation excerpts contain 32 distinct 1280×720 frames per take at 24 fps. The English reel uses a 1920×1080 presentation canvas, scaled HD comparisons, static beauty shots and final-frame holds. No AI frame interpolation or synthetic product screenshots are used.
