PARTING PLACER TOOL — CHANGELOG

AVILABS by Ebonix · The Ebonix Foundation C.I.C.

===============================================================================

v1.3.1 — 25 August 2026

If a parting looks doubled or folded, run Repair Partings once after updating to clear it. Existing files otherwise open unchanged.

Added

  • Delete All — clears every parting on the head but keeps the material you've been tuning. It's the small trash icon under the per-row remove.

  • Tick boxes on the parting list, so you can pick several partings at once. Click to tick one, click more to add others, or Shift-click to tick a whole run.

  • Delete / Select / Clear — appear above Show All / Hide All whenever something's ticked.

  • Eye button on the ticked row. One press hides every ticked parting, press again to show them.

Fixed

  • Partings with strong corner warps could show a faint doubled or folded copy of themselves — gone now. The corner warp is baked to a small per-parting map instead, which also lets a parting hold more than four corner points. Run Repair Partings once to clear it on partings already in a file.

  • Mirror sync and live updates now keep working after you reopen a file. Before, mirrors stopped following their source and on-screen changes stopped showing until you switched the add-on off and on.

  • Select on the ticked list sometimes needed two presses to grab everything. It grabs the lot on the first press now, wherever the list highlight happens to be.

  • Hiding a parting with its own eye left its pending mirror still showing. A parting now hides and shows together with the mirror it created.

  • An internal handler could be left running twice after a reload. Harmless in normal use, tidied up.

v1.3 — 13 August 2026

If you have partings in an existing file, run Repair Partings once after updating.

Added

  • Bake Samples — raise it if partings bake with small holes in them. Default is 16, same as before.

  • Bake Margin and Margin Type — how far the bake spreads past each UV island edge, so seams don't show.

  • Normal Filtering — affects the normal pass only. Leave it on Linear.

  • Relationship Lines toggle in the panel header, for when 70 dashed lines to the head is 70 too many!

Fixed

  • The normal bake was picking up the head's own surface detail, so the face showed through the baked normal map

  • Pressing Ctrl+Z after placing partings could crash Blender. One Ctrl+Z now undoes a whole placement session

  • Deleting a parting was far slower than it needed to be on a heavy head — about 300ms of the delay is gone

  • Preview Mode switches on more than twice as fast

  • Appearance changes and moving partings no longer rewrite values that aren't changing, so Link Appearance is instant instead of a visible pause

Changed

  • Preview Mode now stays on when you finish placing, so what you just placed is still quick to adjust. Press Disable Preview for full shading.

v1.2 — 12 August 2026

Added

  • The key guide now appears as a text-based HUD in the viewport instead of squeezed into one barely visible line along the top

  • Styles can be renamed! Use the pencil beside a style in the Style list.

Fixed

  • A new parting no longer comes out the wrong size on heads that are not roughly life-sized

  • Freezing a layer no longer resets the appearance of the next parting you place

  • The appearance sliders on an individual parting now stop at the same limits as the shared ones

Changed

  • The Appearance block no longer moves when you turn Link Appearance on and off

  • The sidebar has been reordered

  • Universal Mirror and Stamp Size Slider have been removed from the sidebar

v1.1.0 — 11 August 2026

Various bug fixes, incl:

- Baked maps no longer come out speckled (Baking now takes a bit longer).
- Transparent exports are no longer too bright.
- Freezing a layer then baking more than once no longer loses frozen partings.

Changed

- Transparent exports carry the parting's own colour to the edge.

DELETE OLD ZIP!

Re-bake and re-export anything made with an earlier version.

- Changing the Bake Resolution no longer leaves the material showing the previous resolution's maps
