Do I need FFmpeg or any other external tool installed?
No. Proxies are built with Blender’s own video sequencer, so there is no external encoder to install, no setup step and no preferences to configure. Plateline has no dependencies beyond Blender itself, and nothing is bundled or downloaded at runtime.
