Yes, 100%. The shader is built and tested natively for both Cycles and EEVEE Next:
Cycles: Fully physically based, computing accurate Fresnel reflections, micro-roughness gloss, and deep light bounce out of the box.
EEVEE Next (Blender 4.2+ / 5.x): Make sure Raytracing is checked in Render Properties.
EEVEE Legacy (Blender 4.0 / 4.1): Ensure Screen Space Reflections and Refraction are enabled.
The asset uses modern Principled BSDF v2 Coat layering, meaning standing water reflections behave accurately on both dielectric surfaces (stone, concrete, dirt) and metallic substrates (drain grates, car paint, sheet metal).
How do I animate the wind ripples and raindrop splashes for cinematic scenes?
Animating the water surface takes one click:
Select the material and find the Animation Time slider on the node group.
Type #frame * 0.05 into the field and press Enter.
Press Spacebar to play your timeline.
The 4D procedural math will smoothly evolve wind waves and expanding concentric raindrop rings without texture sliding or looping seams. Adjust Wind Ripple Strength and Rain Drops Strength to dial in anything from a gentle breeze to a torrential storm.
Can I use this shader with my own materials and textures, and do I need UV unwrapping?
Yes! The shader is completely non-destructive and modular. You can either use the all-in-one BSDF output as a standalone material, or plug your existing diffuse, roughness, and normal maps into the group's inputs.
Zero UV unwrapping required: By default, the shader automatically calculates seamless Object coordinates across any mesh without seams or stretching. However, if your model already has UV maps (e.g., imported game assets or modular props), you can simply plug your UV output into the exposed Vector socket.
