Spider - Rigged & Animated Creature for Blender

DreamSfx in Animals

Spider - Rigged & Animated Creature

A realistic arachnid, rigged and animated, with a control panel inside Blender.

What's in the package

  • Spider.blend - demo scene: rigged spider, 5 animations, textures and normal map (packed), plus the Spider panel encapsulated inside the file
  • Spider.fbx - for Unreal, Unity, Cinema 4D, Maya
  • Spider.glb - for the web, Godot and glTF pipelines
  • Texture maps: Base Color 4096 + Normal 2048
  • README.txt and License.txt

Quick start

  1. Open Spider.blend.
  2. Press N in the 3D viewport and open the Spider tab. The panel is already inside the file and appears on its own.

If you don't see the Spider tab:

  • Preferences → Save & Load → tick Auto Run Python Scripts, then reopen the file; or
  • open the Text editor, select Spider_Animation.py and press Run Script; or
  • install the add-on (see below).

The panel (N > Spider)

  • Play / pause - starts and stops playback (the spacebar works too)
  • Idle - rest: feet pinned to the floor, body rising and falling
  • Walk - walking in place
  • WalkFwd - walking forward in a straight line (root motion)
  • Run - running
  • Threat - threat pose, front legs raised
  • Seconds - duration of the straight walk; press to regenerate WalkFwd
  • Speed (FPS) - playback speed
  • In front - draws the skeleton over the mesh
  • Bones - bone display style
  • Bump - normal map intensity (0 = off)

Animations without the panel

The clips live inside the .blend: open the Action Editor or the NLA Editor and pick Idle / Walk / WalkFwd / Run / Threat.

Installing the add-on

  1. Do not unzip the add-on archive.
  2. Blender → Edit → Preferences → Add-ons
  3. Arrow at the top right → Install from Disk...
  4. Select the zip and confirm
  5. Tick Spider Rig Tools, then optionally Save Preferences
