Substance Painter Bridge
Send your meshes to Substance Painter, texture them, and pull the maps back into Blender as ready-wired materials — without exporting or importing a single file by hand. Re-send after an edit and Painter reloads the mesh live while your paint layers survive. It reuses your running Painter (and launches the exact version you pick), bakes mesh maps for you, and can export for Blender, Unreal and Unity in one go.
Before you buy
Adobe Substance 3D Painter is not included with this product. This add-on is the Blender side of the bridge only. It drives Adobe Substance 3D Painter; it is not Adobe Substance 3D Painter, and it does not come with any software or licence from Adobe. You must buy your own Adobe Substance 3D Painter licence separately, directly from Adobe (adobe.com). If you do not already own Adobe Substance 3D Painter, this add-on has nothing to talk to. Tachyon Studio is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a reseller of Adobe. Windows only — macOS and Linux are not supported.
Select. Send. Texture.
A true bridge that reuses your running Substance Painter, launches it if it is closed, and keeps your Blender scene the source of truth.
1 · Select
Pick the meshes you want to send.
2 · Send
One click pushes them across.
3 · Ready
Assets arrive set up in Substance Painter.
Everything in one sidebar tab
Everything lives on one Universal Bridge tab in the sidebar — press N.
Send to Painter
Export the selected meshes and open them in a fresh Substance Painter project, with your resolution, OpenGL / DirectX normal and UDIM (UV-tile) workflow already set. Reuses a running Painter or launches the version you choose; auto-detects Adobe and Allegorithmic installs, Steam included.
Live Mesh Reload
Re-send after an edit and Painter reloads the mesh in place — your paint layers reproject onto the new geometry, no new project. Live Push does it hands-free a beat after each edit, with a scope of edited-only, selected, or all meshes.
Get Textures — no manual export
One click tells Painter to export and pulls the maps straight back into Blender, auto-building Principled materials one per texture set and matching them to your Blender materials by name. Or Watch the Texture Folder and re-import on every Painter export.
Live Textures — save in Painter, see it in Blender
Turn it on and every Ctrl+S in Painter exports the maps to a scratch folder and Blender assigns them to your material a moment later. No Export in Painter, no Import here: you paint, you save, you look at the render. It writes to its own scratch folder rather than churning the textures you are about to ship, throttles a burst of autosaves, and picks up a resolution or format change on the next save.
Export templates
PBR Metal/Rough, Unreal (AO/Rough/Metal packed into one ORM, DirectX normal) and Unity (metallic + smoothness in alpha). Export All Templates at once, each into its own folder, with map-naming conventions (spelled-out or short codes) and per-template overrides.
Bake in Painter (High → Low)
Select low + *_high (and optional *_cage) meshes and Send bakes Normal, AO, Curvature, Position, Thickness and Color ID in Painter automatically — match-by-name pairing, ray distances and AA. Assign Color IDs paints a random flat vertex colour per object for instant ID masks.
Reuse bakes from anywhere
Feed in mesh maps you already baked in Blender, Marmoset or xNormal and Send loads them straight into Painter's mesh map slots — no re-baking. Convert 16-bit maps to 8-bit when Painter won't decode them, pull Painter's own bakes back out as image files, or clear stuck slots.
Projects & presets
Point a send at a specific .spp so it reloads into that project, open and save projects from Blender, and start new ones from a .spt template. Save the whole panel — resolution, bake set, export options, folders — as a named preset.
Shared Universal Bridge tools
Command palette, send history with re-send, selection sets, a naming helper (low / high / LOD / UCX / socket), preflight checks with safe fixes, and versioned files, shared with the other bridges on the same tab.
Icons You Can Recolour
The panel buttons use a drawn icon set — send, get, link state, preflight, history, selection sets, batch — not borrowed glyphs that mean something else. Preferences ▸ Button Icons switches between brand colours (each bridge in its own), mono (one accent you pick) and Blender's built-ins. Link and modifier icons stay green / amber / red, because there the colour is the message.
Requirements & Setup

BLENDER
Blender 3.3 - 5.2 - Extension on 4.2+, classic add-on on 3.3-4.1.
LICENCE
Adobe Substance 3D Painter is required and sold separately. You need your own licensed copy from Adobe. No Adobe Substance 3D Painter licence is included with this product - it is the Blender-side bridge only, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a reseller of Adobe.
SUBSTANCE PAINTER
Substance Painter — Adobe Substance 3D Painter or Allegorithmic Substance Painter, Live mesh reload needs 7.4+, in-app baking needs 8.2+. A one-click companion plugin unlocks auto-export, baking and status.

Network: none. Blender and Substance 3D Painter exchange files on your own machine - the add-on opens no network connection.
2.0.6 release notes
Added
Live Textures — every save in Painter exports the maps to a scratch folder Blender watches, and the material updates a moment later. No Export in Painter, no Import here: you paint, you save, you look at the render.
Live Folder — where those saves land. It defaults to a scratch folder on purpose: a live loop rewrites its files every few seconds, which is no way to treat the textures you are about to ship.
Min Gap — the shortest time between two live exports, so a burst of autosaves does not keep Painter busy for nothing.
Changed
Change the resolution or format while it runs and the next save uses it. Switching Live Textures off disarms Painter, and so does closing Blender.
Fixed (across the Universal Bridge line)
The setup and welcome window belongs to this add-on. With several Universal Bridge products installed, another one could answer with its own copy — sometimes an older version of it.
Cancel in the setup dialog puts back the panel layout it changed, rather than leaving one you only previewed. The modifier list pages at ten rows instead of running off the end of the panel on a heavy stack, and the viewport status badge works out which add-on should draw it so two bridges no longer draw two.
Tachyon Studio
Part of the Universal Bridge line — works on its own, and the free Universal Bridge Manager hub add-on is included with your purchase.
