It is built for flat artwork with a readable silhouette: logos, wordmarks, icons, symbols, stencils, transparent PNGs. A photograph of a real object will not give you a good result, because the add-on separates shape from background by threshold, not by understanding depth. If your photo has a clean, high-contrast subject on a plain background, it can still work as a silhouette, but it will give you a flat extruded shape, not a sculpted object.
