A spherical atmosphere with spherically transformed volumetric cloud layers, absolutely insane and to my knowledge a first in Blender. So many other great features like Auroras and planets, all interacting in a coherent manner. Highly recommended.

Pure Insanity of a product. Only the people at TrueV-FX would be so mad!

    5 stars, would start a house-fire again... Bravo 👏😭

    TrueSKY THREEEEEEEEEEE!
Another banger from the True-VFX team. These are an absolute godsend team of people when it comes to Blender products. I've been burned so many times by bad end-user support, never with these folks.

TrueSKY 3 is absolutely, the best sky system you can get in Blender right now. It's YEARS ahead of any other product and I'm actually shocked at what they can get Blender doing.

For those concerned about render times, I use an RTX 4070 which is arguably a mid-range card (albeit, not priced like them these days!), and it's taking between 3-7 minutes on my renders depending on how many cloud layers I have, or how many volume steps I use. I usually stick between 32 and 80 steps as these are plenty for the details I need.

I know there are other sky tools out there, and I'm not putting them down. They're great in their own right. However, if you need to make photoreal skies... This is the one people.

      Hi Shaun,
Thank you for your comments. It's great to hear you're getting good results in reasonable times. We know render times are always a little longer with TrueSKY due to it's nature.

We hope more people can understand this, just like you, and appreciate that sometimes, accuracy takes a little longer than you'd get with a HDRI (Which, I understand are accurate lighting, but in terms of atmosphere and volumes).

Thank you. If you need any support, please join our Discord!

I've been using TrueSKY for over a year now I think, and it's been amazing.
    TrueSKY 3 is another level!!!

I'm not too sure what people are saying regarding their documentation, but they have tutorials available, and they're always SUPER helpful in their Discord.

This is a volume system, it takes longer to render images with this and for me, that's totally okay as that's what I was buying. For those complaining about render times, what did you expect? They make it clear this is Cycles only and even have in their new comparison table, that it's slower than other methods.

Either way, if you want to make the most realistic skies possible in Blender, this is the tool for you! It took 6 days to make Earth... It takes 5 minutes to render it, that feels like a good deal to me.

Thank you for your kind words!
We can always take feedback on our communication, and maybe we should look at how we promote docs and tutorials if people are finding it difficult to view them.

That being said, your comments are greatly appreciated.

This is incredible. I would say that this is the best sky system currently available in Blender. Absolutely amazing work. There is room for improvement for sure in terms of usability and user control but those are minor issues that I am sure will get ironed out.

Thank you Oliver, for the kind feedback! Yes, you're right on the UX. If you find anything that can improve, let us know and we'll get it implemented.

The add-on is great, but the test render I did took about 7 hours and 30 minutes for a basic scene with a character and a few objects in the background with an ASUS Prime 5070 Ti for just one tile. So, I think some optimizations would help in the future.

      Hey there
7hours for a single frame seems way off. It sounds like you don’t actually have your GPU enabled in the preferences.

It must be set to CUDA or OPTIX for Nvidia cards. You can use the AMD or Intel compute backends.

Send us a message if you need support.

It's been about 24H since my purchase, and just wow. This product has to be one of my favorite atmosphere/sky add-on that i've seen or used in my 3 years of using blender.

Now, the reason that I'm giving this a 4/5 is that the learning curve for this product is definitely a bit steep, but it's definitely not as bad as some of the other add-ons I've used. Also, I would wish that, in the official YouTube channel, the "First start" guide did include a section where they went over using this add-on with added models/scenes and not just the panoramic view with this add-on.

But overall this add-on I will 100% keep using and supporting in the future. Also, I just have to thank you guys over at True-VFX for making this add-on as I never thought any of this was possible for such an affordable price as well.

The rendering is absolutely incredible, the quality is insane, there's no denying it, and the customization is superb, resulting in great output. Unfortunately, there's a problem... with my RTX 5090 AORUS MASTER, my rendering takes twice as long just with this add-on, and sometimes four times as long in other scenes. I think it's a bit too ambitious or just needs to be revised to better suit my needs. I'm using Blender 5.1 and Blender 4.5.

On my two renders, which were already quite basic in terms of subdivisions, I had to settle for Nishita because it was unfortunately too resource-intensive (3 minutes with Nishita... 10 minutes with TrueSky Beta 7). A new update is needed to make the performance a bit more accessible.

      Hi Eren,
We have just pushed a performance fix which was actually due to an issue in Blender with light trees enabled.

That being said. Going from 3 minutes with Nishita to 10 with a fully volumetric sky system is totally reasonable and expected.

This WILL NOT be as fast as Nishita or a HDRI. It’s impossible. Volumes take longer to render, this is just a limitation of math. They’re computationally more complex than “nothing”, with nothing being no volumes.

If you’re on a 5090 and getting 3 minute renders with Nishita. That’s already a pretty complex scene.

Fantastic addon for early access, but incredibly under-performant. Lots of cleaning up for the devs to do. Forcing the volume step rate to 1024 will choke mid-range hardware.

The new UI and menu is pretty cluttered and overwhelming, but I am glad to see devs updated the user manuel, however, there is a learning curve to be had here. Once we're out of beta, a video tutorial is a must. I'm running a AMD 64 gb/ RTX 490 AI, and surpisingly, performance stutters and freezes--a first time ever with any add on. That said, there are plenty of cool options to create your desired environment. The added aura and planet is nice. It just needs to function better, (delayed viewport rendering once any minor slide is adjusted) , I truly do miss the old version's simplicity and navigation through the menu. I will continue to support this add-on and encourage customers to also check out, just keep in this is still a work in progress--with high potential once everything hopefully gets fleshed out.
