I think the technology behind TrueSky 3 is amazing, but – just like TS2 – it asks a lot of Blender and current hardware. If you're not running at least a big fat Nvidia card (or two), it's quite slow to fully resolve, and Blender's denoising often makes it look a smeary mess, meaning you have to run high sample counts.

I also agree that the results I'm currently getting are a far cry from those on the store front (the more I experiment the better things are getting, but volumetric rendering is a bit of a minefield with so many interconnected values like Step Rate, Max Bounces, Sample Counts etc.) General atmospherics are fine, but I can't generate any clouds that aren't just ill-defined misty lumps. The UI seems to become unresponsive after a while, too, which doesn't help.

I'm hoping these teething troubles can be smoothed out with more presets, best practices, and some good tutorials. But this addon definitely isn't for everyone – especially if your system is bit slow or you don't need this level of photorealism.

Not working as advertised. Lack of documentation / tutorial on how to make your scene look as good as the promo images....or close to

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear you feel this.
When we answered your support message, and provided guidance on how to use the tool, your response was positive.

Either way, you can view our Tutorials here: https://www.youtube.com/@True-VFX/videos
And our docs (WIP) can be viewed here: https://truesky-documentation.pages.dev/

We designed all the default values in the product, to provide great results (what you see in the promos) out of the box.

Overambitious to the point of ignoring basic usability. I tested this addon on a RTX 4090 and a system with 2× RTX 6000 Ada GPUs. Test scene was with only 1.5 million vertices but still crashed with GPU out of memory errors on the 4090, and runs painfully slow on the 6000s. I don’t expect real-time performance, but this is nowhere near usable.

I’ve used the previous version extensively and it just worked. This new release feels bloated, unstable, and like a downgrade rather than an improvement. In its current state, it’s not usable and absolutely not worth paying for. I wouldn’t recommend buying it until serious performance and stability issues are fixed.

      Hi there,

All promotional renders for this product were created and rendered on an RTX 3090, with scenes exceeding 1.5 million triangles, without crashes or GPU memory issues. The tool was also extensively tested internally before release.

We currently have over 1,200 active users, and widespread performance or stability problems of the kind described here are not something we are seeing reported. That strongly suggests this is a system-specific issue rather than a general problem with the addon itself.

If you are encountering crashes or severe slowdowns, we strongly encourage you to contact us through one of our support channels. Without a bug report, system details, or even confirmation of the Blender version in use, it’s impossible to diagnose what’s actually happening in your setup.

It’s also worth noting that a performance patch was released shortly before the Christmas break, which improved performance by up to 10× in most cases by introducing a new system that dynamically adjusts volume step rates per material type.

We’re always happy to help resolve genuine issues, but that requires communication and reproducible information so we can investigate properly.

Does not work for AMD GPU RX 7900 XFX. I tried many things and i cannot get it to work. Updating drivers, Updating the addon, Updating the Blender, Adjusting setting, Nothing helps or works. So if anyone is looking to get this addon and you have a AMD GPU, i would recommend not going through with it. Knowing what i know now, i wish i didn't get this. Very disappointing.
