VesselLab
Does it export STL?
It uses Blender's own STL exporter rather than adding a second one. Press
Rebuild at Export Quality, check the verdict, then File > Export > STL with
Selected Only ticked. The add-on builds in millimetres at one Blender unit per
millimetre, which is exactly what slicers expect from an STL.
Note that Blender's default scene setting labels one unit as one metre, so a
145 mm vessel is displayed as "145 m" in the Item panel. The size is right and
the label is wrong; set Scene Properties > Units > Unit Scale to 0.001 if it
bothers you. Do not scale the object.
Are the models actually printable?
Every export is validated as a closed, edge-manifold mesh with the correct
shell count and the correct Euler characteristic for its configuration, and the
panel reports the thinnest wall it actually achieved against a safety floor for
that product type. That is measured, not assumed, and 498 automated tests cover
the geometry engine.
Can I sell what I make with it?
Yes. Geometry you create with VesselLab is yours, for any purpose, including
selling printed objects and selling the model files. The GPL covers the add-on's
source code, not the meshes it generates — the same way a GPL compiler does not
claim the programs it compiles.
Which operating systems?
Everything is pure Python and numpy, both of which ship with Blender on
every platform. Development and testing were done on Windows. macOS and Linux
should work identically and nothing in the add-on is platform-specific, but
they have not been tested — so if you hit a problem on either, tell me and I
will fix it.
Which Blender versions are supported?
4.5 LTS is the minimum. Tested on 4.5.3 LTS and 5.1.2. Earlier versions are
not supported — the extensions system VesselLab uses does not exist in them.
Does it connect to the internet or send anything anywhere?
No. There is no network code in the add-on. The extension manifest declares
no permissions at all, and Blender shows you an extension's declared
permissions before you install it, so you can verify this yourself rather than
taking my word for it. Everything runs on your machine and works offline.
Are there any ongoing costs?
No. It is a one-time purchase with no subscription, no credits, no metered
service and no external processing of any kind.
What do I need besides Blender?
Nothing. VesselLab needs Blender 4.5 LTS or newer and nothing else — no
other add-on, no Python packages, no account, no subscription, no API key. It
uses numpy, which already ships inside Blender. Nothing is downloaded at
install time or at run time.
