"UV stress" would have been correct too. After watching several videos and trying to try it with my models I opted for (ctrl e, mark seam U, and unwrap, easy, reliable and free) It looks like an incredible addon, I always have the hope that it will be friendly, but usually you have to learn a new workflow, and there is no quick start. The tutorials say everything super fast and incomplete, few addons are simple from the beginning. I know that after investing a few days in trial and error I will discover an excellent product (I hope)

Thank you for the honest and detailed feedback, Chrystian! Zen UV does come with a bit of a learning curve at first, but I truly hope it becomes a powerful part of your workflow. Feel free to reach out if you ever need help or guidance — I’m always happy to assist!

It's rly nice, I like it. But every time when I try to use the Zen unwrap, it crashes the blender :( 3.6.

      Many thanks! Use Blender 3.6.1

The updates are coming too frequently. Each new version requires a fresh payment. Outdated versions are no longer maintained to be compatible with the new version of Blender. There is no discount for the upgrade.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

We know that paid major upgrades are not ideal for everyone. However, supporting every historical version of Zen UV across Blender's rapidly evolving API is unfortunately not sustainable.

We did provide a long upgrade period with discounted pricing for existing users before Zen UV 5 was released.

Well, not a bad add-on but be prepared to pay for upgrades. Keep in mind, the version you purchase may or may not work with future versions of Blender so... pay to keep up.

Of all the add-ons I have purchased here (I have purchased a LOT), this is the ONLY company that has asked for more money for their upgrade. I will not be purchasing anything else from this company.

ZenUV version 3 will be supported for the future Blender versions, so no need to pay again if functionality suits you.

Hi! Check the add-on description, it's here https://gumroad.com/l/ZenUVCore

generally OK, streamlines the whole UV workflow within Blender, has some neat tools and UI, BUT documentation is very generic, could use some work, also the part that definitely needs some attention is customer support, this one is pretty bad.

Thank you for the honest feedback, Giuseppe. I'm sorry to hear your experience with support wasn’t great — that’s something I take seriously. Since then, both support and documentation have improved significantly. If you ever return, I’d be happy to show you how far it’s come.

This product is amazing but.... Is there a way to not affect the sharp edges while using zen unwrap? I hate to go back and redo marking the sharp edges. It overwrites my sharp edges

    • Sergey Tyapkin

Many thanks! You just need to remove Mark Sharp Edges in Marking options. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0atnkbdb2ac9c7o/marksharp.png?dl=0

The newest version of Blender doesn't support older licenses of this plugin anymore, so I'd have to re-buy the whole plugin just to continue using it. No thanks. The very least that could be done, is a permanent discount for buyers of older versions, even contacted the creator about it, but the response was basically "we offered a discount for upgrades for a while". No idea what would speak against a permanent discount for the people who supported the creator in the past, but I guess that's too much to ask and money is more important than customer appreciation. Looking for an alternative instead.

      Thank you for your feedback.

We understand why this is frustrating, especially if you've been using Zen UV for a long time.

Zen UV 3 was released in July 2022, Zen UV 4 in April 2023, and Zen UV 5 in March 2025. Existing users had over 18 months to upgrade to Zen UV 4 at a discounted price, and we kept that offer available until Zen UV 5 was released.

Our support policy follows Blender's own release cycle. Rather than trying to maintain compatibility with every Blender version forever, we support Blender LTS releases and current official versions, just as the Blender developers do. This allows us to focus on developing new features while keeping Zen UV stable and well maintained.

We understand that this licensing model won't suit everyone, but it is what allows us to continue actively developing Zen UV. Thank you for supporting the project over the years.

After using the Addon for few hours i find the UX very confusing and unpredictable.

The Alt U pie menu is context sensitive but its very unclear by whan context, so sometime it will mark a seem and sometimes it will declare an island as finished.

The Relax algo sometimes just does not work at all. i triy on multiple cases. sometimes it is ignoring newly marked seems and dose not do anything. and the only solution is to switch the algo from ZenRelax to Blender's

The Unwrap is strange, it will re-write all your seams instead of re-unfold them. while relax is not always performing you can get stack.

Packing is just very confusing. trying it on multiple cases its only generating either:

    1. Pack everything on top of each other (i did not press any "stack" button)
    or
    2. Packing but Changing the Relax operation i did before, packing everything inside the UV space, but texel density is strange. So its not good because my islands have been "un-relaxed"

Let's go through your points one by one.

      1. Pie Menu
The pie menu includes main and additional commands that are triggered using modifier keys (Ctrl, Alt, Shift). Most likely, you were using a modifier key without realizing it, which led to an unexpected result. You can read more about this in the documentation:
      https://zenmastersteam.github.io/Zen-UV/latest/user_interface/#pie-menu

Also, the pie menu and set of Zen UV operators in the N-Panel are slightly different depending on whether you're using them in the 3D View or the UV Editor. This is because the 3D View operates on three-dimensional data, while the UV Editor works with a flat two-dimensional representation of your geometry. This is a core paradigm of Blender: each editor interacts only with its own data.

      2. Zen Relax
To understand why Zen Relax isn't working as expected in your case, we'd need some specific examples. Please reach out on our support forum where you’ll get a quick response and help from the team:
      https://support.zenmasters.team/

      3. Zen Unwrap
Zen Unwrap is a complex operator that can run a whole sequence of actions depending on the selected options (Unwrap, Mark Seams/Sharp, Set Texel Density, Pack). It’s hard to say what went wrong without more details, but I recommend reviewing how this tool works in the documentation:
      https://zenmastersteam.github.io/Zen-UV/latest/unwrap/#zen-unwrap

      4. Packing
Without a specific example of your settings it’s difficult to say why packing resulted in overlapping islands. The change in the relaxed islands might be due to running Unwrap again before packing, what led to re-unwrapping. To prevent this in the future, you can use the Tag Finished operator, which locks finished islands and prevents them from being unwrapped again:
      https://zenmastersteam.github.io/Zen-UV/latest/unwrap/#finishing-system

If you want to preserve your manually set Texel Density during packing, make sure to uncheck "Average Islands Scale" before clicking Pack.

Thank you for your feedback. I highly recommend checking out our step-by-step tutorial, which covers most of these questions in detail:
      https://zenmastersteam.github.io/Zen-UV/latest/tutorial/emergency_light/emergency_light_eng/

And for everything else, our support forum is always open — a great place not just to get help, but also to share your ideas on how we can improve functionality and UX:

It lacks the option to lock islands

    • Sergey Tyapkin

If you don't have UVPackmaster add-on to lock overlapped Islands during Pack operation you can pin separated Replicas, Pack Primary Islands and then Stack.
