Fantastic addon, runs locally, is fast, and produces better output than most other such models I've tried. Extremely impressed.

1 thing I'd really like to see is a built in present for Auto-Rig Pro

And a wish, rather than request, would be implementation of some features for treating the mocap like the ones that ANIMO (10.0) for Maya has. That being said, I understand this is a lot of work and of course don't expect it.

      Thanks so much!

I might be misunderstanding the request, but an Auto-Rig Pro preset is already included. In the retargeting panel, open the preset dropdown and pick "BlendCap → Auto-Rig Pro" (there's a "Mixamo → Auto-Rig Pro" one too, for retargeting Mixamo animations). It expects ARP's default bone names, so as long as the rig wasn't renamed it should map in one click. If you'd tried it and it didn't behave, or you meant some other level of compatibility, let me know through the store messages and I'll see what I can do!

And thanks for the ANIMO pointer. I hadn't looked at it closely, and motion editing tools are exactly the direction I want the post-capture side to grow in, so I'll take a look at what they do well.

Echoing many of the other reviews, I've been really impressed with the motion capture results - I came in optimistic and they've been better than I was expecting.

The UI is really well laid out and clear. A lot of add ons I've encountered are a single button, or require a bunch of deciphering - but this is intuitive, guides you through the workflow, and gives you a powerful amount of control over results without being overly cluttered. I am using this with a fairly complex rig that wasn't built with any of the usual suspects (Rigify, Auto-Rig Pro, CloudRig, Mixamo, etc.) and am happy with the process and results - BlendCap was clearly built to accommodate my unique workflow with the ability to save and reuse presets at key steps.

Also, I reached out with a question and got a really thorough answer from the creator that allowed me to properly troubleshoot. Looking forward to using this a lot.

Thanks so much, this is really great to hear, especially the part about your custom rig working just as cleanly as the defaults. I really wanted the addon to be as flexible as possible.

And your troubleshooting on that constraint issue was super helpful on my end too, so thank you for taking the time with it. Definitely adding some extra options to help work around that in the next update!

Hi, I really love this plugin — it's incredibly useful and I can see a lot of care has gone into building it. Thank you so much for making such a powerful tool available to the community.

Just a quick suggestion: could you please consider adding an official preset for MMD models from Aplaybox ? They use Japanese bone names like センター, 脊柱, 左腕, etc. Current presets (Rigify, Mixamo) don't work with them at all, and we have to manually map every single bone which is really time-consuming. A lot of MMD users would really appreciate this. Thanks again!

Thanks for the review! MMD models have been a popular request, so I'm going to try adding in a standard map in the next update, but until then you can also save and reuse your own bone maps so you don't have to map it manually every time.

Works like a dream, absolutely seamless with Autorig Pro. It even worked with a dance scene where the subjects was in black clothes against a dark background, uncentered and far from the camera. Color me impressed, wouldn't be surprised to see this rocket to the top of the charts next to Autorig Pro.

Thank you! I'm glad it's working well for you. And I hope you're right, that would be a dream, haha.

Just bought the addon now, I haven't used it at all but I bought it purely off the merits of having something as powerful as Video Mocap this accessible to indie animators. Looking forward to testing it but based on the youtube videos I've seen on it I already know it's going to be very useful in my workflow with Character Creator 5 and iClone 8.

A few things I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing in the future is a multi-camera and multi-person capture features which would really be helpful. I'd also like to see a feature that can help us convert video mocap to locomotion animations to use in game development, having the ability to do that would make building locomotion systems in game engines like Unreal Engine would be a MASSIVE plus. Beyond that I would say an animal motion capture feature would take this addon to S-tier status but regardless of all that this is still an incredible addon and honestly just a must-have for character animation, the finger tracking is incredible, better than what I've seen Quickmagic do. You definitely have yourself a long-term supporter in me and all the best man.

This is so cool! I´ve been having fun with this a lot!, how, here´s a thing that might be useful to know, arms, Necks and spines from the rigify premade rigs are not recognized by the addon... after checking a little on the "why", it is cause the addon recognizes the arms for example as Arm and lowe arm, and rigify goes for upper arm and forearm, Like it doesn´t asociate that they´re the same thing, so I´m applying those manually. Anyways, it works and it is really cool, the things you mention to implement at some point definetly makes it worth it

Thank you! And I'm glad it's been a helpful tool for you! Yeah, the auto-detection for retargeting isn't super strong yet, but I'm planning to improve that pretty soon. But until then, the included BlendCap to Rigify presets should work fairly seamlessly, as long as the rig hasn't been heavily modified or had a bunch of name changes.

Love the potential of this plugin, especially when trying to turn film footage into motion capture. There are a few issues that get in the way, but nothing too major considering it runs locally.

I've done mocap before as a beginner. I started with AI options like Plask 3D, then tried Xbox One Kinects with Brekel Body, and eventually ended up owning five Rokoko suits, both used and new, which I picked up for dirt cheap.

This is very interesting. The biggest feature I feel this needs is multi-person support. If it can get that working, there really wouldn't be much reason for half of what I mentioned on this list.

Thank you for the kind review! It feels surreal to have it compared to actual suit-based captures, haha. Multi-person support is definitely coming, it is second priority right behind 2-camera capture. Hopefully I'll have it ready sooner rather than later!

The most user-friendly add-on I've purchased. Thank you.
This add-on was released at the perfect time for me. The motion capture is very good out of the box when the lighting is adequate. As someone brand new to motion capture, I found the plugin to be extremely easy to use. The installation took a few minutes, and after a few hours of exploration, I feel very confident endorsing it.
Quality lighting when recording cannot be stressed enough. I ordered additional lights immediately after testing the add-on.

Ah! That means a lot! Thank you! I really wanted it to be as user-friendly as possible, and I think most of the development time actually went into that aspect specifically.

Best body mocap plugin till date.. My experience has been really good so far as well as results. Looking forward to how this tool shapes up! Of course cleaning is required to get a polished result sometimes but you get finger, facial tracking as well..
