MergeTools

Unik Studio in Modeling

V1.0.5 — Seam shading fixes, GPL attribution, Seam Darkness removed

▸Fixed: The seam no longer shades as a jagged, saw-toothed ring. Auto-smooth ran before the fillet, so it measured the raw boolean — where the two surfaces still meet at a hard angle — and marked that entire ring as sharp. The fillet then rounded those very edges while the sharp marking stayed behind, tracing the boolean's irregular seam as a zigzag of split normals. The fillet band is now exempt, and genuine hard edges outside it keep their crisp shading exactly as before.

▸Fixed: The cleanup pass that collapses the boolean's degenerate sliver edges sized itself to the densest mesh the auto-density could ever produce, rather than the density actually in use. At the subdivision levels a normal merge picks, it therefore ran several times weaker than the safety margin it was written to keep, leaving slivers along the seam for the fillet to catch on. It now measures the mesh that actually reaches the boolean.

▸Removed: The Seam Darkness control and its dark streak along the joint. The mt_seam attribute is unchanged, so the same weathered-seam look — and any other dirt, rust, wear or glow effect — can still be built in your own shader, with full control over its colour and falloff.

▸Changed: LICENSE is now the unmodified GPL-3.0 text; the scope note that used to sit above it moved into the source header.

V1.0.6 — Blender 4.5 LTS support

▸Added: Blender 4.5 LTS support. The minimum version drops from Blender 5.1 to 4.5; one ZIP now covers Blender 4.5 LTS through 5.x. Tested on 4.5 LTS and 5.1.

▸Fixed: On Blender 4.5, Subdivision Surface, Merge by Distance and Resample Curve settings that Blender 5 exposes as menu inputs (UV Smooth = None, Connected merge, Length resample) are now set through the node properties 4.5 uses, so UVs stay pinned and the seam cleanup runs exactly as on 5.x.

▸Changed: Remesh on Blender 4.5 smooths the seam on the mesh, because the SDF Fillet and SDF Mean nodes it uses on 5.x only exist from Blender 5.0. The result can differ slightly from 5.x; the Solid engine is identical on every version.

▸Changed: MergeTools now ships as two editions only — Full and Lite. Both share version 1.0.6 and replace one another when you install the other ZIP.
